And we all know how that turned out.

As far as what's her problem, Schematic therapist would say she has MAJOR Entitlement issues: http://www.schematherapy.com/

The below is from From http://www.enneagramspectrum.com/articles/malschema.htm
----
Cognitive therapists talk about adaptive and maladaptive schemas. If our schemas or paradigms are aligned with reality, i...they are useful. If they distort reality, if they assimilate reality to fit their preconceptions, they’re not so helpful... When the distortions become pathological, they show up as "typical misconceptions, distorted attitudes, invalid premises, and unrealistic goals and expectations"

Jeffrey Young (1999), a disciple of Beck’s, describes early maladaptive schemas as:

extremely stable and enduring themes that develop during childhood, are elaborated throughout an individual’s lifetime, and are dysfunctional to a significant degree. These schemas serve as templates for the processing of later experience ( p. 9).

According to Young:

1. Most early maladaptive schemas are unconditional beliefs and feelings about oneself in relation to the environment. Schemas are a priori truths that are implicit and taken for granted….When the schema is activated, individuals believe that they can, at best, delay or hide the inevitable bad outcome such as rejection or punishment.

2. Early maladaptive schemas are self-perpetuating, and therefore much more resistant to change. Because schemas are developed early in life, they often form the core of an individual’s self-concept and conception of the environment.

3. Early maladaptive schemas, by definition, must be dysfunctional in some significant and recurring manner.

4. Early maladaptive schemas are usually activated by events in the environment relevant to the particular schema.

5. Early maladaptive schemas are closely tied to high levels of affect. Early maladaptive schemas seem to be the result of the child’s innate temperament, interacting with dysfunctional experiences with parents, siblings, and peers during the first few years of life.

ENTITLEMENT

The final ( schema) lifetrap, Entitlement, is associated with the ability to accept realistic limits in life. People who have this ( schema) lifetrap feel special. They insist that they be able to do, say, or have whatever they want immediately. They disregard what others consider reasonable, what is actually feasible, the time or patience usually required, and the cost to others. They have difficulty with self-discipline.

Many of the people with this lifetrap were spoiled as children. They were not required to show self-control or to accept the restrictions placed on other children. As adults, they still get very angry when they do not get what they want.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6434803014232331503.post-89776838439431882492009-05-20T12:14:57.911-04:002009-05-20T12:14:57.911-04:00Dys, it's almost like she thinks having an iPhone ...Dys, it's almost like she thinks having an iPhone is special or enviable. Sure, she wanted to make her life seem more important and *magical* Disney-Princessy than it is, I'll give you that; but she knew very well she was hornswoggling the readers she has left by omitting to disclose the circumstances. I think she is just smart and conniving and manipulative enough to do that. Stupid? Julia Allison Baugher loves to IMPLY this or that and let readers draw their own conclusions and then is quick to DEFLECT/DENY if she's called on inconsistency or deceptions or actual details. Her calculated and precisely obtuse language is a favorite ploy she uses again and again.
What is wack is that for a self-proclaimed lifecaster, her assertions like "I've been invited to SeaWorld!" are meant to inform the twitttervese about just how popular she is and what an exciting busy life she leads!!! She's SO in demand, with invitations flying in from all quarters. OMG! It is SO exhausting, bunnies, all the travelling and demands on her time!
She purposely cloaks the reality of what is really involved, i.e., she accepted a trip as part of a media junket with a bunch of other bloggers, and is also being paid by the sponsor company as a consultant (seems like a bit of a conflict of interest right there, no?, if I was SeaWorld I'd call a huge foul on that one).
What I really don't get is why she obsessively hides all the actual details, especially when they're a hell of a lot more interesting than her current nail polish color.theremustbeaponyhttp://www.ihatetumblr.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6434803014232331503.post-79163507570142916032009-05-20T10:44:32.254-04:002009-05-20T10:44:32.254-04:00Couldn't agree with you more GawkerEmployee. (I have been on those before and they can be horrid, having to stay with a group of people you don't like and being shuttled around and pitched to every minute of your trip, having to worry what your editor will think, etc.) It wouldn't surprise me. Having met her and known quite a few people that have met her, she thinks of business contacts as "friends" (until she has no use for you) and she thinks of lame media parties as high-class events. I don't know if she is simply dellusional or just too naive to realize that work does not = a social life–maybe it is a combo of the two.

So, anyways, just putting that out there: Julia probably didn't intend to be slimy and mislead her readers by blurring advertising and content, she probably was just trying to make herself seem imporant and *magical* by saying a press junket was a vacation.
