Julia: More Violins

This gets interesting at the five-minute mark:

  1. This is from the blogger lounge at SXSW. This "show" by Lazar and Allison generated a bunch of negative Yoolia twits from fellow conference goers. It caused a bit of an uproar!

  2. I'm enjoying the irony of JABA the Nut braying and begging (bregging?) for people to not be mean to others online. Look in the mirror, you psycho bitch.

  3. Swipe at Ashton K. because he ignores her tweets?

    "Classy!"

  4. What? How women are treated on the internet? Honestly, I don't think there is negative treatment of women on the internet. Those who poise themselves as someone to be taken seriously, are. Those who sell themselves through little schoolgirl outfits and rambling a LOT (but really, she said nothing in the end) are treated like jokes.

I resent her BS about women being treated equally.. Stop making an issue out of something that isn't.

  5. No one has a problem with women on the internet! Everyone has a problem with YOU on the internet! OH MY JESUS.

  6. That is what vexes me about it. The issues people have with Jackles -- narcissism, invading people's privacy, blatant dishonesty, extreme status-consciousness, etc. etc etc. -- have very little to do with her gender (weight issues aside, although, let's face it, Perez Hilton get harassed about his weight too -- even that is not a female thing).

If she was a dude doing all the same shit, I'd have all the same problems with it.

Being a good-looking woman, in fact, is the only reason anyone knows who she is. Does she think Gawker would have paid any attention to her if she looked like Rosie O'Donnell? She's not doing anything interesting except shrieking for people to pay attention to her, and usually while flaunting her tits. So she's used her sexuality/gender to get the attention, and now she's crying like a baby that people are being mean to her ONLY because she's a woman. What a crock.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Her hypocrisy was laid bare in this little exchange. It's OK for Jackles to use her body to get attention, but Obama Girl was setting women back. The truth of the matter is she's as sexist as anyone -- she trades on her looks/tits all the time, or did when she still had them, but the claws some out when anyone else tries to do it. And then boo-hoos because everyone is "so mean" to women!

  8. That was painful to watch. It reminded me of that scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High when the two cheerleaders are trying to lead the pep rally and the student body is ignoring and booing them The cheerleaders kept trying to get the crowd psyched by repeating themselves over and over and pretending to be all "rah rah."

So let me get this straight. Nobody takes the pretty girls who dress like schoolgirls and bare their breasts whenever they can (that includes Shira) and who party and get drunk at all the hip parties at the conference seriously? Wow. That's just tragic.

Newsflash. Plenty of women in the tech industry and blogging community get taken seriously, ladies. What they don't get is the camera or face time that women like you get because nerd boys like boobies. That's really sad considering that those women are actually the ones who have something to say and who have influence.

Those two were clueless/ignorant as to how annoyed and disengaged that crowd was. If you noticed, the crowd only silenced their chatter when anybody other than Shira or Julia was speaking.

  9. I thought it was beyond hilarious when she tried to criticize Obama girl (never mind that she was posing in a photo with her months after the fact) when her schtick is no different from Julia's. Except of course she doesn't claim to be anything that could easily be challenged/disproved and she chose a huge/controversial thing and invididual to champion - politics and Obama. In some ways I feel like it was more jealousy at not having thought of it first, but we all know she wouldn't go the OG route due to her obsession with appearances.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Wow. Just. Wow. What negative treatment of women on the internet? What the fuck is she talking about? Most of Jackles' negative treatment comes from women who are appalled at someone with little brains and no talent shoving her breasts into interviewers' faces to get attention. Or getting gawker as a PR flak by running around as the condom witch. This bimbo sets women back years, and her idiot sidekick is cut from the same cloth. How dare Julia Baugher try to profit from both sides of the coin--look at my tits; how dare you look at my tits--while claiming to speak for women! She disgusts me.

    ReplyDelete
  11. What the fuck is she wearing? She wants to get taken seriously and she dresses like a mid-price callgirl. If she is setting the standards of decency online we are all in trouble. Just shut the fuck up.

    ReplyDelete
  12. all she had to offer to this panel was the same nonsense she's been spouting for forever and the namedrop to say she was talking to a woman who has more power and brains than her who supposedly shared her views on treatment of women on the internet. no julia, I don't think the female entrepreneur of blogger will ever be taking up for you soon, and I don't doubt you initiated the conversation in that vein either.

The schpeil... women should treat women online better. Never mind how her behavior plays into this, and that it isn't only women who take note and are vocal about it. Never mind that she DOESN'T LEAD BY EXAMPLE and therefore is NOT the person to be chastising others about not making anonymous people on the internet treat others better. Guess what? There are mean people all over the world. Typically, you can avoid them unless you happen to work for them or have to live with them. Unfortunately, with the internet as an easily accessible vehicle, everyone is a critic and doesn't really care if your feelings are hurt by their honesty. It isn't just those who are open about it that believe "if you put it out there, you will get what you get and can't really complain about it", the others will just TELL you (or the world) without having to explain the reasoning behind it.

  14. What bugs me is this two -- if I have vagina and I have an issue with another person who has a vagina, I should shut up because we both have vaginas?

WTF, Jackles? Is the Internet a totalitarian state?

I don't care it you have a uterus or testicles, just stop doing stupid shit, and I'll stop commenting on it.

  17. Let me get this straight. A girl who had a website about her relationship with an ex, and is a "dating columnist", and has recently publicly blogged about her matchmaker dates, including live tweeting from dates and posting pictures of dates....doesn't want people to talk about her dating life?

And someone who gets paid to speculate about celebrities on tv...doesn't want people to speculate about her online?

And she calls herself a "tech geek girl" or whatever the fuck that crigneworthy phrase was, yet she thinks there is something to "figure out" about Twitter? Like ~what is this form where I type 140 characters and click update idgi idgi~. Blogging, im'ing, owning an iPhone/Blackberry or other PDA, using Twitter, or saying ".com" a lot stopped being even remotely nerdy in about 1999.

Give it up, Julia. Even you don't know what your product is, so how the hell should we?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Jacy, I applaud you. I thought you were going soft the other day. I thought you fell for that famous old JA ploy, the longtime weapon in her arsenal, the old teary-eyed "You're hurting my feelings!!!" card. It has actually worked on some, including, for a time, Nick Denton. And because it's occasionally worked, she trots it out every now and again when feeling desperate. Nothing pisses her off more intensely than when someone doesn't fall for it.

That is why she called Owen Thomas a "little cunt," and why she woke up the next morning after her "poor me" video, read that it hadn't worked, and became enraged and defiant and spent all day in here calling people evil and sociopathic.

Another weapon in her arsenal? To claim people don't like her, and are mean to her, because she's a woman. What a laugh!

Jacy, clearly you have a heart and good for you. This one doesn't. Don't be fooled. These are just strategies that she adopts to get people to shut up about her. She craves nothing more than worldwide adoration and domination, and yet she cannot conceal what's at the core of her personality ... a selfish, self-obsessed, entitled brat who's not very bright. A female Spencer Pratt. That's all.

To paraphrase what someone in here just said: Stop doing so much stupid shit publicly, and I'll stop commenting on it.

    Pretty simple.

  20. i work for an ad agency that was considering using tmi weekly as a distribution channel. as soon as i heard about this, i directed them to this site and, more importantly, the 'boycott nonsociety sponsors' site. any consideration of giving money to julia allison immediately went out the window. it felt good. really, really good.

not that they really wanted to work with tmi to begin with. word is that the girls are awful to work with, as they think that are so fabulous and can't shut up long enough to sell the shit they're getting paid to sell.

oh and julia, since i know you're reading this- fuck off. seriously. there are plenty of us hard-working women out there (with actual jobs! doing real work!) and believe me, none of us want you to represent us. at all.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I LOVE THIS MIDDLE IMAGE

    ReplyDelete
  22. Julia sounds like an idiot even attempting to talk about respect for women. A groupie who flew around the country to conferences that had nothing to do with her line of work for a year probably isn't going to get much respect.

    ReplyDelete
  23. LMAO! You people are genuinely hilarious! Even when your personality disorders are clearly explained to you, you're totally oblivious. Even when different people write comments calling you out on your general unpleasantness, you're so deluded you believe everyone is Julia.

Great stuff! Keep on keepin', ladies! You're too funny...

  25. Julia lecturing about online manners is like Dick Cheney lecturing about gun safety.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I resent the implication that we're all "ladies." Piss off, sexist. I have been commenting on this site since I first found out about it, and I am a straight male who has been "Jackled."

    ReplyDelete
  27. @7:05 - do tell us more. Have you experienced the hosebeast in person?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I have had professional dealings with her. She was unprofessional, unprepared, unwilling to take advice, generally unpleasant, always late, quite rude. That's all I can say.

    ReplyDelete
  29. New name for jackles: Female Spencer Pratt. CLASSIC

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh boy the big purple muu-muu dress! So flattering, it makes her look like Barney the dinosaur.

    ReplyDelete
  31. the only thing more tired than calling unsnarky anons "Julia", is unsnarky anons lecturing us about personality disorders. If we have a personality disorder for judging someone with a personality disorder, what does that say about someone who'd judge this site/the commenters? Lamer than lame, me thinks.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm a clinical psychologist, and guess what: you can't diagnose anyone with anything by reading their blog comments, or even by reading/looking at their tumblr, twitter, vimeo, et al.

    ReplyDelete
  33. anon 7:17PM - Prackles? Spackles?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh yeah? Well I invented the Internet, and I say you can do anything you want to do.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I do have a personality disorder. It's called Anti-NarcissistsandAttentionWhores Disorder. I'll admit it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm sitting this one out. The comments make me mad enough about it as it is without watching the actually video. Jacy, and so many others here, you put it very well.

Her attempts at silencing and shaming her critics are hilarious and so transparent. The pity me, they're so mean video and posts, the women should be nice to one another pleas, the faked sincerity and concern. Like someone said, there is no problem with women, the problem is with one woman, Julia Allison.

If she's still "wondering" (I realize she wasn't actually wondering, just trying for a pity me/hate my critics attention ploy) why she's so disliked, these comments would be a good place to start reading.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What a crock, Jullia Allison. The day you quit thrusting your boobs out, dressing inappropriately for professional situations (like that lowcut purple evening gown), and making hay of your, uh "strategic relationships" AKA dating and sex life, well then maybe people will stop commenting about same on the internet.

QED, my dear. Look it up.

    ReplyDelete
  38. and then the funny part is, ineff, she IS reading! But.. "silencing" because it's all just "too evil". Which translates in reality to not seeing a therapist due to avoidance of being informed of one's flaws (especially by a paid authority rather than free from random net commenters!). So yeah. Never going to change, really.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am not defending Julia, but if you guys really believe that the world - be it online or otherwise - treats men and women equally, you need to lay off the kool-aid.

    ReplyDelete
  40. God, this is annoying. Julia, my dear, I have a high-profile blog in a major American city. I have never for a second felt that anyone disrespected me online because I am a woman. Sheesh. I've earned the respect I have been given. Figure out how you can earn respect for yourself, and quit with the whining.

You make all of us sound silly when you play the gender card that way. Can it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @Anon8:30: I think most people here are smart enough to realize that yes, sexism still exists. But this feminist rejects the notion that Julia should speak for all women. She is no bastion of ideal femininity. She is more of an embarrassment to our gender. She uses her tits to get ahead and then cries about it when people are mean to her. If she acted more like an adult, responsible woman I would respond to her as such. Until then, she can kiss my woman-friendly ass.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think 8:30 was talking about people saying they don't see any inequalities between the way men and women are treated. I think we're ALL agreed that Julia has no right speaking for women or for feminists.

    ReplyDelete
  43. THANKN YOU, 8:38. Really could've sworn that was obvious.

    ReplyDelete
  44. @Dyspeptic: As a female blogger myself, I've certainly seen sexist comments leveled at me - and other women bloggers - just because we're women.

But Julia's still full of shit. In her case, the critique is about HER.

It makes me upset because the Internet is not a vacuum and sexism exists within it, but Julia makes a joke out of those (valid) criticisms by utilizing feminist arguments for her own personal agenda.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anon @ 8:30, of course sexism exists. But then again, attractive women have a distinct advantage that men (attractive or not) do not possess. No guy can wear skintight bike shorts and constantly thrust his crotch at women as a tactic for professional success (outside of the world of pr0n).

I think that for many of us, it's not that Julia is an attractive woman, but that she seems to have deluded herself into believing that being marginally attractive and having a decent rack are synonymous with professional success. What I resent is that she believes that she's somehow entitled to respect, money, status, etc., just because she wants it, and she wants it NOW. Veruca Salt, anyone?

For all of her whining about how hard she's working, she has never worked a day in her silly life.

And she makes it that much harder for women who DO work hard and aren't trying to get by on their tits to be taken seriously and treated with respect.

    ReplyDelete
  46. When women are legitimate and actually DOING something in their industry of choice rather than trying to "get by" on whatever they're using to do so, they don't have to worry about "unfairness to women". Yes, it's a concern, but it isn't something they feel the need to harp about constantly, mostly because they've garnered their due respect for having worked for it and proven themselves. That THAT has to take place for their recognition is unfair, not that a mindless girl is complaining about being treated unfairly in a medium where she's made a lifestyle of showboating and the reception isn't all positive. She is what, 28 years old now? She can decide to be frivolous and about nothing, or decide to enter the biz world and be taken seriously. She SEEMS to want to straddle the line between both, which - sorry - isn't going to happen. Either allow your "business" to be dismissed as the hobby you seem to depreciate whenever under fire while making NOTHING off it for that reason, or make a profit (that 'fuck you money') and be considered a true business - thus requiring you to deal with the ethics, responsibilities, standards and general possible unpleasantness that comes with it. No two ways about it here unfortunately, it wasn't as easy as indulgently growing up with mom & dad or skating through college. She's an adult.

    ReplyDelete
  47. i read a lot of great blogs written by women who do everything the opposite of julia, and you know what? they work hard, are great at what they do, and as a result are very much respected.

smittenkitchen, notmartha, swiss miss, how about orange, and pioneer woman are great examples of this. they don't shove their cleavage around to get attention, and they have real live CONTENT to back themselves up and make their blogs very worthy of visiting.

    julia, you made your bed.

    ReplyDelete
  48. If it was Dooce and not JA making this complaint, I would be outraged on Dooce's behalf. But come on! She is an ego-blogger who has posed half-naked in her underwear, spilled details about her personal relationships and her ex's mental health problems, thrust her tits upon the world, cozied up and cyber-stalked other women's husbands -- I could go on, but Jesus, it's endless -- yet she wants the world to buy that she gets picked on simply because she's a woman??

    NO. RESOUNDING FUCKING NO.

She gets picked on because she's a fool who does her foolishness in public, pleading with us to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  49. LMAO @ people getting upset and pointing that not only are they male, but that they're straight too! Fascinating.

Anyway, I'm so sorry. Allow me to rephrase. Ahem...

Keep on keepin', ladies *and* *gentlemen*. You're too funny.

    There. All better now? Good.

By the way, to the clinical psychologist @7:41pm... Of course it's possible to correctly diagnose personality disorders from people's on-line behavior... the phenotypes for these kind of conditions shine through so brightly that they're blinding.

    ReplyDelete
  50. @9:18 My guess is they're clarifying they're straight to point out they're not under the influence of Hypnotits.

    ReplyDelete
  51. 9:18: Go away. Seriously, you're boring. Why are you here? Do you like consorting with sociopaths? I guess that means YOU'RE a sociopath too.

    Weirdo.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Glad you find it amusing while repeatedly missing (or intentionally avoiding? Hm.) the bigger picture. Amused, actually because it speaks so much about your shared personality disorders with the subject! But yes, of course you can deduct this via anonymous commentary too, you clinical psychologist, you! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  53. 9:22: Cuckoo. Cuckoo. Cuckoo. Cuckoo.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yup, it takes a real sociopath to be outraged to see someone like Julia Allison playing the sexism victim card.

As someone who actually had to sue my company when I found out the guy they hired a week after me, who had less experience and a mediocre resume, was started at a far higher salary than I was because he could play golf, apparently, I can't tell you how it irks me to see someone like this complain about sexism.

She doesn't know the first thing about it. As someone here earlier said, it's her gender and her looks that got her any attention in the first place. She took that platform/those opportunities and relied even further on her breasts and her looks, no content, no work ethic, no ideas.

I am not a sociopath, asshole. I am sick of idiots like her making things more difficult for the rest of us by bogus-ly screaming sexism.
And you're rich to come in here calling people names for calling her names when you're in here yourself, calling people names. Loser.

    ReplyDelete
  55. 9:18 -- I should have clarified that no ethical clinical psychologist would attempt to do such. Do you have PhD or did you just happen to learn the word "phenotype"?

  59. Hey guys, remember this, from exactly a year ago? http://julia.nonsociety.com/post/29102521

    ReplyDelete
  60. Scary -- That was terrific. Great job. Thanks for sharing it here.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Did I hear that right? Julia's solution for women dealing with sexism involves growing some balls?!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Wait.............................................................................."terrific"? "Great Job?" The fact that Scary Mary whoever the eff that chick was took the time to show the world what an obsessive coo coo whack job she is actually really disturbing to me. WTF was that? She looked coked up - like legitimatly coked up, and how the hell do you have so much pointless time on your hands? I'm all for coming on these funny little comment boards for a few sh*ts and giggles but the seeing the face behind that weird obsessive site and creating that pointless parody was just a little "off" to me. As in....I wouldn't want to be left alone in a room with that chick if she was holding a pencil.

    ReplyDelete
  63. It's called free speech. Suck it! The only women I make fun of are the annoying ones who contribute nothing but who constantly point out how poorly women are treated. Enough with your bullshit. You get treated poorly not because you are a psycho bitch with lip injections and serious eating issues, but because you do nothing but whine and talk about yourself. Say something interesting about something other than yourself and then maybe, just maybe, I'll actually give a shit about you. Until then, I could care less what dress you are wearing, what club you are partying at, and which celebs you are posing in pictures with in order to create a false sense of friendship which you peddle via the internet. You expect people to fall in love with you "brand," but you have no brand. It's just you you you, and honestly ... who the fuck are you? what the fuck have you done? why the fuck should I care?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Anon1:27 -- She didn't look coked up to me. She looked like someone doing a parody of a really irritating video & personality. And that parody had more of a point to it than any lipdub I've seen of Julia's. So yeah, I say "great job."

    ReplyDelete
  65. That wasn't just a parody...it was 2 mins longer than the original and that girl had to copy down exactly what JA said word for word. Nothing she does is even that funny to me...it's all like this angry psychotic babble that a 14 year old that never got hugged would write in her diary. Maybe it's just me, but RussianGirl and alot of other commenters on this site make me laugh out loud and are quite snarky. That chick makes me want to run away and lock the door, as if she has Julia photos wallpapering her bedroom and a TV of Julias soundbits on repeat. Something isn't quite right with her.

    ReplyDelete
  66. i think it was a smart move. and i think it was a spot on parody.

    ReplyDelete
  67. anon 1:27 um how is this site a funny comment board but hers is weird and obsessive? its so obvious you are not a regular here but someone who came just to try to discredit this girl. there are tens of sites that reblog these dummies. in my opinion it shows a lot that she put her own face to it when most of us, you included, call ourselves anonymous. also she is doing her own site. shes obviously doing her own videos and this was a funny way to introduce herself. i doubt it took that much time to make that anyway. julia is a walking parody of herself. the impersonation was creative and it made me laugh. you're just another hater like the rest of us so get off your high horse. or make your own video and lets see how funny you arent.

    ReplyDelete
  68. go to sleep julia. only teddy understands.

    ReplyDelete
  69. We dont have to agree. I think shes odd takes it a little far, but if you are entertained - great. Actually I am a regular here and I have no personal reason to discredit this girl, just whenever I've looked at her site, it just seems like she's a few grapes short of a fruit salad. I think me not making a video of my face, mocking someone with a crown on my head pretty much supports the fact that I'm not an idiot. I'm sorry but emotionally stable people don't do that. Thats just my opinion and you of course are entitled to yours.

    ReplyDelete
  70. This Shira Lazar chick is beastly. They both look like hosts of the Long Island 2nd Wives Club. Yuck.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Emotionally stable people parody those who do idiotic things in the public eye all the time. Some people in comedy have made their careers doing it. I'm not saying she's the next Tina Fey or anything I'm just making a point. She was acting like an idiot on purpose. I thought the tiara was a nice touch. I think you're taking it way too seriously Anon 2:32. It's an obvious mockery not meant to be serious.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Mary's post: 28 comments

    Julia's post: 73 comments

where's team rambo? have not read about her for hours.

hmmmm, are people upset that she deleted her tarded post about baugher?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Yes, you are J @ 4:01, I don't find Mary all that mockable these days.

    ReplyDelete
  74. this video was PAINFUL to watch. julia is so awkward and fake. but it's pretty hilarious how she keeps trying to make jokes and pausing for laughter but no one in the audience is laughing.

    ReplyDelete
  75. SM posted another video and she's actually well spoken and makes good points.

I'd love to see them in a smack down. My money's on SM.

    ReplyDelete
  76. i'm really glad people are starting to see how cool SM is. i have no diea why she'd gotten such a crappy rap here, but i think her new business venture is going to blow NS out of the water.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Giving credit where credit is due dept.: Scary Mary's parody of nutbag narcissist Julia Baugher's 5 a.m. poor pitiful me rant was dead on. I laughed my ass off, especially when "Julia" would whisper her outrage a second time. I've witnessed our lady do that in person when someone catches her in a lie and she tries to turn her dishonesty into their fault.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Jack the Bulldog: Yeah, the whispering was my favorite part of the video. Which I found damn funny, although it could have been edited to run a bit shorter. SM is a good mimic.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I personally thought the running-too-long bit with SMs parody was intentional, kind of like JA is long-winded about nothing. It had to be too long to fully get that over-the-top effect. Still funny though, and I'm a convert after seeing the follow-up explanation vid, regardless.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Scary Mary that was teh awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  81. redacted you're an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  82. That really hurts coming from you, "Anon" (sheah) @ 7:46.

  83. "They both look like hosts of the Long Island 2nd Wives Club. "

Ha! Julia is totally a Long Island Second Wife. Although she honestly looks washed up and tired enough these days to be a First Wife, as well.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Julia needs to learn how to talk. That tongue always comes out of her mouth.
