A picture is worth a thousand words, you know. That's why Julia Allison would rather post all of these enlightening photos instead of writing about what happened at DLD.
First, packing is hard:
Getting ready to leave for Davos - I can’t close my suitcase!!!
But what trip would be complete without a gratuitous shot of JA's legs? Like this one here:
Oh hells yes red tights
And what trip would be complete without a mention of the founder of Facebook, like in this picture here?
Watching an unusually verbose Mark Zuckerberg give the closing conversation at DLD
Next, Julia shows us the throngs of people who were waiting to hear her every word. She later added this caption: "Looking out at the audience during my panel today."
The tension is mounting! as she illustrates here:
T minus 3 minutes to panel
Now, she explains how she is hard at work:
Setting up the presentation for my panel!
Julia's words of wisdom for today:
Passion is an amazing gender-neutralizing force.— Marissa Mayer
Jules and Megs attended a panel on woman power. I bet JAB is fuming that she's not sitting up there:
Now, here's a screencap of Julia's Twitter page. Cuz, you know, Julia is the queen of all new media. She lifecasts! She Twitters! She puts her Twitter on her Lifecast! Wow.
The Woman Power panel (L to R): Silvana Koch-Mehrin, Aude Zieseniss de Thuin, Marissa Mayer, moderator Dr. Maria Furtwangler-Burda, Monika Wulf-Mathies, Debbie Derebichez.
real doll
ReplyDeleteI watched the video of a portion of her panel discussion (link is somewhere below) and holy hell, she had NOTHING to say, and she looked really rough.
ReplyDeleteI am heartened to see that she thinks her red tights were an important thing to share with her fans. Nice to know even in the company of intelligent people with real ideas and vision, she remains, reliably, a complete lightweight fool.
So in between wearing an unprofessional outfit, stalking Mark Zuckerberg, being an embarrassment to actual accomplished women there and riding a mechanical bull, how DID your panel discussion actually go, Julia Allison? What did you talk about? How was it received? Or are you just leaving the conference a day early because everyone there is already embarrassed to be associated with you and you have to move on to the next conference full of unsuspecting people to leech onto?
ReplyDeleteAnyone have a link to the video of her portion? I didn't see it posted.
ReplyDeletewhat if everybody posted commonets on NS under Mary Rambin tag? What would happen?
ReplyDeleteshe is a REALLY bad speaker. i mean, even on 'tmi' she is the worst part (and meghan is about as enternaining as a box of nails)IMO
ReplyDeleteThe DLD video is here:

I also think a lot of people are having a little fun at QotD posting as Mary, Julia, Meghan or Charlsie these days. They are most likely all fake comments as those girls admitted they don't ever visit the section. But I am sure it makes things fun for the poor intern to try to figure out the real comments from the fake comments!
I think everyone posting as them, on their own website, is like some crazy piece of performance art! I'm in!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to post as Jakob Lodwick and Charles Forman.
ReplyDeleteJulia's latest Twitter:
ReplyDeleteEn route to Davos in a DLD sponsored car with Randi & Meghan. TIRED!
about 3 hours ago from txt
Well at least she's not even trying to hide the fact that she's leeching off Randi like the slimy little bloodsucker that she is.
i just watched the video, HER VOICE IS SO UNPLEASENT TO LISTEN TO.
ReplyDeleteok i wrote down the transcript as i heard it i'm going to give my commentary in my next comment.
...
its a totally new way of telling stories
and its something that i uh we've called it lifecasting cuz blogging is sucha its sucha ugly word. really. and the thing that we really focus on is that it's cronological its real time. its also first person it's myself and my 2 best girlfriends. and something that you dont see in ordinary media and traditional journalism is this ability to look into peoples lives. something that captures people.
Agh, some funnies are still up at QOtD, like these:
ReplyDeleteCharles Forman
"I always found Mary approachable as a West Side Hooker. Julia, was very approachable, except for her nether regions, which were locked tighter than Fort Knox. Meghan was approachable if I waved a Microsoft Zune in her face."
Jakob Lodwick:
"I'm never approachable because I'm bipolar and I smell from lack of bathing.
But since I had a wad of cash in my checking account, I was very approachable to Julia, who couldn't resist my 1980's style glasses and my manic bouts of anger."
"its a totally new way of telling stories
ReplyDeleteand its something that i uh we've called it lifecasting cuz blogging is sucha its sucha ugly word. really."
it's totally new! also, you invented the term 'lifecasting' cuz blogging is such an ugly word? THAT MAKES NO SENSE!! your saying what you do is blogging but the reason dont call it that is because of the 'word?'. blogging isnt new! you sound like a fool!
"and the thing that we really focus on is that it's cronological its real time."
yeah like ces, NO NOT REALLY.
"its also first person it's myself and my 2 best girlfriends"
you invented first person stories! what the...?
"and something that you dont see in ordinary media and traditional journalism is this ability to look into peoples lives. something that captures people"
that is BULL you are not doing anything new.
If you want a laugh, read the comments section on the dld website:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dld-conference.com/2009/01/telling-stories.php
A veritable skewering is happening on this high-profile site.
A few comments from twitter on JA/NS at DLD
ReplyDelete- http://twitter.com/pjozefak/status/1151756414
- http://twitter.com/pjozefak/status/1151803319
"Yes, Finnish lady from Dopplr asks Julia the question we all had on our minds: "What are you trying to accomplish?"

This one apparently says (per twitter translator) that JA calls for better manners online. Hmmm, isn't she the same person who called someone a c*nt for referring to her as "egoblogger"? I guess her standard for good manners is a bit different from the traditional definition.
--Ineffable
Anon 2:16 the skewering on the DLD comment site is increasing by the minute and would you look at that people are actually using full real names (presumably) and still say the same things about JA as the anon commenters.
man that was so painful to watch... "It's about me and my best girlfriends."
ReplyDeleteDoes she not realise, in all honesty that it's just not working?
