Today, Julia shows us the following two images of Davos. Nothing exciting. Come on, Jules? Where's the stellar content you've promised your readers? I mean, yes, this picture is nice:
But we're not learning anything. Please, J, give us more. Next, she shows us this picture below, with the caption: "The view from our hotel room this Thursday morning, 10:21 am." OK...but surely you can share more shenanigans from Davos? I guess patience is the word, bunnies.
She's a minimalist.
ReplyDeleteThe hills are alive... with the sound of navel gazing.
ReplyDeleteAre they there for any actual purpose? Or just parasites travelling at the largesse of Randi Zuckerberg? They've taken over her room it seems ... but are they going to Klosters with her too? Don't think so. Maybe the free ride only went so far.
ReplyDeleteI mean, c'mon, not even one idea from this whopping high-profile idea fest? I mean, what exactly is the point? Oh, right. There isn't one.
ReplyDeleteApparently they find it extremely inspirational that other people are admired for doing important things. They remain confused, however, as to why they are not universally admired for doing absolutely nothing.
ReplyDeleteHere's the scoop: You need to be invited.
ReplyDeleteNeither the jackal mouth Parikh or Baugher have been invited to the forum. So they can't blog about what they can't get into.
Good luck getting ANY content out of these twits.
"So they can't blog about what they can't get into. "
ReplyDeleteJust like Julia Baugher crowed about going to the inauguration but didn't post a single picture of herself at the actual inauguration. What I want to know is WHY Randi Zuckerberg lets these to twits mooch off of her. It looks like they even subjected themselves to mooching Randi's hotel room and the discomfort of sharing a twin bed.... for what? To say they were in the same town as the World Economic Forum but not actually attending it?
Why go to all this trouble just to be a pathetic outsider? They're not fooling anyone. Even the actual participants and successful people at these events know they're just sad hangers-on. Why humiliate yourself like that? I just don't get it.
I think you're looking at it all wrong. Sure, she could spend all day parsing presentation son the future of the international credit markets and the implications of Kyoto on tarriffs, interviewing the normally-reclusive men and women who steer the world economy and writing her reflections on what it means to one young Manhattanite...
ReplyDeleteOr! She could simply frame a mountain in her cell phone camera lense and push the button. You see? It's all in THERE. Like a history book that contains all the details of creation. She has taken a step back. Not blinded by the minutae. The view from 50,000 feet. The detail you all seek is there. In that bus stop snapshot. You're just not looking hard enough.
So let me get this straight. They go to CES and do basically nothing of value, hit the porn convention then eliminate any evidence; then Meghan takes off to San Fran or Seattle or something, while Julia provides in-depth first-person coverage of the most amazing inauguration of most of our lifetimes. Mary flies in from her St. Barts vacation and trip home to Texas then couch surfs at Meg's place for a few days before taking off again to visit friends in LA. Julia and Meg head to Germany and Switzerland for basically to present 1/2 an hour of Julia's self-involved stream of consciousness crap. And this all occurs AFTER Julia publishes her long screed (with the other two concurring) about how hard it is to run a business and be a journalist with dealines and she's so BUSY and doesn't get enough sleep ... and ... and ... (oh right, remember to send the intern somewhere to pick up a hair bow tomorrow).
ReplyDeleteSeriously?
JAB is the queen of "selective lifecasting." She did have tickets to the inauguration, but she chose not to use them. Instead, she watched the whole thing inside from a DLC party that she somehow got into. She squandered those tickets. But she does not write about this on her site.
ReplyDeleteThey don't even try to pretend that they care about content, do they? Or that they actually understand a key aspect of their supposed job is to make the content appear regardless of how "busy" they are traveling, partying, and schmoozing?
ReplyDeleteThey've used the wifi excuse before. Somehow with every event they attend a ton of good coverage on it appears and on time too all over the Internet except at Nonsociety.

Ineff --
ReplyDeleteThey don't care, but I think the silence for the past 24 hours says something, no? Maybe I'm reading into things...I don't buy the wifi excuse and I think they are taking a mental holiday from posting and 'rallying' up a strategy...no?
Anyway, it's 1 am there now. Guess they're busy stripping for the ol' boys at the Piano Bar...(instead of finding their wifi waves)
FunnyBunny
Gee. you would think with being an internet company who needs INTERNET ACCESS to produce content for their company would make sure they had access to the actual internet. Same cry falls on deaf ears for CES. Are they that hard up they can't afford an EVDO card? what in the hell?
ReplyDeleteFunnyBunny
ReplyDeleteToo true. They don't care. I attribute the silence to laziness. Hasn't Mary been posting?
--Ineff.
Yeah I guess -- if you call that posting! Probably took, on the whole, 12 minutes...but I bet she be emailing/texting (whichever) the hell out of her computer with JA and Megs!
ReplyDeleteIt could be laziness, but not even a tweet out of Julia...that's weird to me! It's Davos! She must tell the web about the famous person she is sitting next to or the lessons she is learning from some famous person's (simulcast) talk...no?!
And besides, Miss Randi is tweeting...and I'm sure a hell of a lot of other people are too! Wifi difficulties my ass; they be strategizing or hoping things blow over!
So unprofessional -- it's utterly revealing!
FunnyBunny
They're strategizing!! ScaryMary got an invitation to meet Julia in person...oh come on now!!
ReplyDeleteIt's in the above thread (or visit her site)! Is Julia reaching out or is she laying the foundation for something?
Maybe, ScaryMary, she thinks that once you meet her, you'll like her. Or, she will use your meeting as a jumping off point to discuss, on her lifecast, what's going on with all the hate mail/negative criticisms and how NS will try to make "things better". Just like a relationship...she wants to have a talk.
A treaty in the making? Cease fire? Or a war??!
FunnyBunny
According to Robert Scoble's twitter, Davos has great wifi:

So much for that excuse, bunnies.
OMG Anon 8:53 that's hilarious. Man, they are funny, those girls.
ReplyDeleteI like what Trainwrecks had to say about it (trainwrecks.tumblr.com)
"Nonsociety has terrible luck. They’re the only people who can’t get WiFi in Davos during the World Economic Forum, in DC during the inauguration, or in Vegas at CES. Good thing their business model isn’t internet-based or anything."
I'm beginning to really believe that they are in Davos but weren't invited to the conference. Why else aren't there ANY updates??
ReplyDeleteMeghan took down the posting about no wifi.
ReplyDeleteThese gals are sad.
I'm so sick of their deleted posts. I wrote a comment on the DLD page about that and other shady practices but so far at least it was not published. I have a feeling it isn't going to be either.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:19 I went and looked and it seems like the no wifi post is still up
ReplyDeleteSo Meghan can post an apology about not posting, but she can't post content? How does the (fictional) lack of WiFi connection prevent her from writing all day?
ReplyDeleteIt's official---I am DONE with Nonsociety. I refuse to give those greedy gals anymore hits from my end. Not that there's anything there to look at anyway, of course((wow, Julia went a whole day without posting anything? Mind boggling!)). Thanks for offering this feature, here folks...
ReplyDeleteP.S. I just saw where someone here back a few posts compared MY blog to Julia's??? I assure you, even though I used to like the gal, I am absolutely nothing like her, nor do I ever aspire to be. I blog about going to various events and parties and whatnot too, but I'd like to think I have way more to say and ponder upon blogwise than just how seductive I can make myself look while posing with other women's husbands! And also, when *I* travel to various locales, I actually embrace the local culture beyond just trips to Burger King and shopping for moon boots. Sheesh.
Sheryl, I have to agree. I used to follow the online output of these girls because I really just couldn't believe that such purile conceit actually had any traction. How lazy are the editors etc. who actually assign posts or interviews to cover this crap?
ReplyDeleteBut now, I can only describe the whole fiasco as monotonous. Pure dullsville, population 3.
