A note about the intern.

We said it before, but it bears repeating: We have nothing against Charlsie. We thought she seemed kind of naive and sort of sweet, and we actually felt sort of sorry for her. Our reblogging of her site focused on her experiences and interactions with NS. (There was lots of other banal stuff from her own life; we didn't care about it.) Someone suggested removing her last name from the posts on our site, and we've done that. We expected that she would remove her blog pretty soon after our post (or at least after Gawker's post), and that's probably best for her. To be fair, she did put her full name and her association with NS on her own site. A Google search of her name took you right to it.

Anyway, Charlsie's own posts about her experiences with NS were quite revelatory, and they didn't paint the NS girls (especially Julia) in the best light. I'm sure no future NS interns will be blogging about their experiences--you can bet Julia Allison Baugher will make damn sure of that.

Charlsie: Good luck with the rest of your college career. Don't take journalism or media advice from Julia Allison. You don't deserve to be schlepping Julia's crap around town and begging for free stuff. That is not a real internship. Get a real one, work hard, improve your writing and you will do well. Good luck.

  1. I'm angrier about this than anything.
julia is literally jetting around the globe presenting herself as an internet expert - on the cutting edge - for sharing her life on-line.
But her intern dares write about working with her, and gets shut down.
Someone needs to explain freedom of speech and journalism to ja.
    Grrrr.

  2. To be fair, we don't know who shut down the site. It could have been Charlsie herself, which is what we suspect happened.

  3. Someone may have threatened her to do so...

  4. they just erased all the new qod's

  5. Charlsie, I hope, has learned the lesson that you really can't write about your job on a blog (because pretty much every employer has issues with that and people do get fired). Yet Julia continues her shameless indiscretions with ex's, celebu-stalking, crashing events she's not invited to, squandering opportunities she is given and ... carries on.

  6. How come the other intern Samantha still has her page up? Charlise gives a day to day telling of what she does, and then it disappears...but other girl gets to keep her stuff up. Only nice stuff up?

  7. ^^ oh come on. This is Julia Baugher/Allison we are talking about. ONLY flattering posts can be made, i am sure.

  8. Wow at the latest QOtD response, soon to be deleted no doubt:

SuckMyLeftOne: "I f--king hate you bitches."

  9. People, STOP visiting their site, even to leave snarky comments at QotD. It only adds to their precious inflated page views that these idiots are clinging onto like a lifeboat as their Titanic failure of a website sinks.

  10. I can't hate on the intern... I feel sorry for her and hope she finds a job or internship that will actually get her places.

    This is Mary's latest Twitter:

    Another one bites the dust

Do you think she's talking about Charlsie and/or her tumblr? If so, that's a pretty callous and bitchy thing to do but I really would not expect anything else from someone as morally bankrupt as Mary Rambin. And if Charslie really did leave (which I think she mentioned that her internship was only for the month of January anyway) then those dim wits will go down in flames even faster because they won't have any one to monitor comments, return their dresses and generally use and abuse. Now the real fun begins!

  11. Forget Question of the Day. If you want to leave a polite and well worded comment where Mary, Julia or Meghan will see it, leave it on the latest episode of TMI Weekly (see Jessalyn's over there for a good example). Comments cannot be deleted there and you better believe someone from Next New Networks will be reading it and sharing your feedback with them.

  12. Kasey, it will be interesting to see how much of the intern's hard work will go unfinished now that she's gone. Will our free product whores continue to get the borrowed gowns, headbands and make up now that there is no one to do the pick ups, drop offs and arrangements? Will QotD go to the dogs with no moderator? Will they get those coveted (at least in their eyes) tickets to the Confessions of a Shopaholic premiere? (don't even get me started on the untimeliness of that disaster... ) The All Hype/Zero Delivery Machine will be in FULL FORCE in the next couple of weeks. It will be fun to watch, at least from over here. I've completely quit on giving those unethical jokes page views.

  13. I don't feel sorry for the intern. No, I am not. She knew what she was signing up for. That's just like saying "don't put personal info on your Myspace or Facebook page." Seriously. But this is worse because she was blogging about her (cough) "job."

Anyways, I think she's gone, or she will be. Let's just hope no one else gets hoodwinked into working for them.

The worst thing you want to do is abuse an intern. With the way things are going these days, you NEVER know if you'll be working for THEM in the next few years.

I hope Charlise learned this very valuable lesson. At least she's not damaged goods.

  14. This has nothing to do with the intern, but I typed in www.nonsociety.com/mary and got what seems to be the failed Nonsociety launch they attempted. Typing in mary.nonsociety.com brought up the page regular page. Anyone else see this?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ugh. That failed "relaunch" is even worse that their first version. They are obviously spending all their money on travel and other stupid shit because their programming and web design SUCKS. The horizontal scrolling is totally not user friendly, they can't even program an effective commenting system or maintain QotD or Advice Box and their site is often buggy and does not work, and that's not even talking about the lack of content, that's just the basis web design stuff.

They will FAIL because they have no vision and focus on the completely WRONG things - free stuff, dresses, making silly videos, conferences, etc. It will be amusing to see it all burn down to the ground. But then I am sure Julia Allison Baugher will blame the "haters" and not her all-around horrendous website.

  16. wow! awful, unusable layout.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Her horrendous personality, too, James.

They don't have a business or even a business plan, other than somehow trying to become wealthy and famous for being "personalities." But they are dull, stupid and trite.

  18. I have to wonder if Charlsie actually knows that £ is the symbol for the British Pound or if she just thinks it's some random squiggly that got put in the character map.

    ReplyDelete
  19. that pound symbol was created by a Charlsie impersonator you dumb fucks. you are all a bunch of complete fucking morons, if this is how you all live your lives i recommend killing yourselves. seriously. the sooner the better.

    ReplyDelete
  20. also, if any of you read the fucking blog you would have noticed that it was a school project connected with the internship. When someone took it down they took away a whole months worth of work. none of you seem to care that you have hurt an innocent person just trying to do some work and get experience. I hope you all die, honestly. your deaths are paramount in my dreams.

    ReplyDelete
  21. if this bullshit blog was worth its weight then it would take down all posts related with the intern except for an apology. All this does is hurt her, not the bitches she works for that deal with this all the time. You all make me sick. If you want to mess with people who's work it is to put stupid shit online that you shouldn't care about in the first place, fine. But when you involve the periphery people that are just doing their jobs, that is not fine. Once again I would like to propose some sort of group suicide for all you lame fucks.

  22. Anon 1:50 PM

    Hi Mary!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. The blog was not removed by Charlise becase her other one is still up, and it's just suspicious to me that you can see one, but not the other. Hmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anon @ 2:29, if that were Mary, there would be many misspellings, grammar errors and general incoherence.

I think Julia Allison / Julia Baugher has some free time at Davos.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anon at 1:50 is totes the pink one with the fat ass and free headbands.

  26. @ Anon 10:28 a.m.: oooo that NS page has a lot of ads on it! i wonder if they're getting paid for those ads, even though none of us are going to that iteration of the page. (i claim complete ignorance of how those things work.)

@ Vicious Anon 1:47: Charlise's j-term ends this week. are we to believe that she hasn't already written her essay about her internship experience? and even if she hasn't written it yet, what kind of complete asshole keeps their notes for a school or work assignment on a blog without backing them up?? if she somehow got hurt in this, it's really her own fault.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Her other blog has a new post today. NS had to have had her intern blog removed. Why is the other page blocked but not her original one? Hmmm. Anyone have the girls e-mail? Let's contact her ourselves and see if she'll speak, especially if she isn't working for those nasty freebie obsessed vapid bitches.

    ReplyDelete
  28. If Charlsie was writing her essay in a blog instead of in a Word document, she deserves whatever grade she gets. I mean, come on.

Regardless, any school that would give credit for being JA's personal slave should be stripped of its accreditation. This is quite literally a way less funny version of a Seinfeld episode.
