Is the QOD now being written by my slow cousin Boris?

Did your college have any unique traditions that were special to you? If so, how was it special?

Are you asking if the traditions were special, or if my college special? Huh??
What is feminism to you in 2009 and are you comfortable identifying yourself as one?

You want to know if I comfortable identifying myself as a "feminism?"
What are you doing to celebrate Valentine's Day?

Really, poofy? This best you got?

I know my English no good, but these people make me look like Charles Dickens. I miss the Charlsie.

  1. But JA got a B in Journalism!!

Was that B as in B cup?

  2. oh BTW the two lowest denominator schools to get into in Indiana are IU and Ball State..basically if you are breathing they let you in..

Carry on JA you were saying something like:

    JA: I is special..

  3. Julia is having a meltdown a la Britney Spears, except for Julia isn't famous and she doesn't have a crazy drunken Cajun father and a redneck stage mother to blame.

  4. Questions like those stimulate a great number of comments. Like, at least 3 of the daily 8 or 9 comments are totes real.

  5. Charlsie wrote all of those QODs. It was her project before she left. Many of them are riddled with grammatical errors. I love me some Charlsie but she was not the best at forming coherent sentences. It's up to JA and the gals to notice these things. Apparently, they either notice and don't care or don't notice at all.

  6. I love that Beth Cooper's tongue and cheek, ridiculous responses get in daily. They are unaware of her farce, I guess.

  7. JA has been busted on V-day rose photo!

Here is what iphone camera does with white environments from 2 NS girls that did get roses:
    http://meghan.nonsociety.com/post_images/qfdCLT0Y9jyj1f30QNFZ8VP0o1_400.jpg

    The white in JA
s photo is not from an iPhone photo of something white but a cut and paste from a different photograph

  8. Tongue in JA cheek..ewe yuck!

  12. Here's the address to their still-not-live coverage, so you don't have to stop by NS and get bombarded with chicken shards and InstantMoonBoots:

Fave comment: "See the three living brain donors at Nonsociety."

  13. Beth C, Jankles still hasn't responded to our challenge to post another photo of those flowers. If she doesn't, that's 1,000 internet points for us!

  14. IT'S LIVE, PEOPLE. Get in there and comment!

Ya know, if you feel like it...heh.

  15. Well, it was live for about 30 seconds, and Mary made a kissy face for the camera. Then it switched to a video of some chick cutting off all her hair, not related to NS at all.

Mary's fucktarded kissy face broke the camera. Finally.

  16. It's not live until Monday. That was not live coverage. It was stock coverage. Please, can we double check our facts before commenting? They should not have the link there and they should have a banner that says it's not live until monday. That's why this is a total fail.

Also, that is an Iphone pic of flowers. Really, people, let's check our facts. All this predicting etc. is kinda BS and makes us look bad.

Apologies for biting off people's necks. It's not one of you, it's just a pattern I'm noticing. Again, sorry to offend.

  17. Beth C., B Cup? Yes. B in journalism from Georgetown? Very doubtful. If I go back to those horrible days when Ms. Baugher made my life a living hell, I recollect that she might have failed her journalism course because of accusations of plagiarism. I was always torn between making Julia responsible for every dishonest thing she ever did at Georgetown and simply trying to provide counsel so that we might get her out of the Healy Gates ASAP.

Rather disheartening, but not surprising, to learn of Indiana's near open door policy. What explains Julia's matriculation at Georgetown after her mysterious escapades at IU? Daddy, I guess, who has money and secured that job on the hill. If only we had known what we were getting ourselves into . . .

    ReplyDelete
  18. BTW, the reason I know it's not live until Monday is because Mary said so on her blog. I think she's in New Canaan until then. She is doing most of the live coverage as she said and is not starting until Monday. She said she will not be at any shows until then.

I think they put the Friday the 13th date because that was the first day of fashion week. Either, MR changed her schedule at the last minute or they just wanted it to look like there would be live coverage for the entire fashion week.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I just clicked Julia's lifecast blog at NS and it is NOT THERE. Could it really be that she has left the internet world as if someone poured water on her and stole her broom?
Ah, a girl can dream, can't she?

    ReplyDelete
  20. False alarm. It's back.

    ReplyDelete
  21. She took a year off between IU and Georgetown and worked on the hill. She calls this her bridge year. But a bridge year is between HS and college. She never mentions IU. It's a pretty popular school for chicago gals to attend who aren't very serious about academics. State Us in the midwest are not all that bad. That said, anyone can get into IU. I'm sure she wanted to go to a bigger name school. Maybe she had to prove herself by doing well at IU, bringing up her GPA, before daddy put his neck out for her and got her into Georgetown? He looks like a man who doesn't want to get embarrassed.

  22. Sorry, Total Jing, but I don't really visit their site, and my only facts come from here. I read here that they would be going live on Sunday, and when the feed abruptly switched from Meghan wearing a helmet and drinking pink Vodka to Mary walking into a show at Fashion Week with the word LIVE lighting up, I sounded the alarm.

Before you jump down somebody's throat, you might want to check your own facts. Perhaps they were just doing a test. If you'll visit NS right now, you'll see Mary is at Herve Leger. Right. fucking. now.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Total Jing: I have not been commenting on live coverage or the lack of it, but I distinctly remember Mary promising on her blog that it would begin Sunday. Perhaps it was changed to allow her to get some more R&R in New Canaan. Cuz she really needs some more R&R.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I thought she said Monday. Apologies if I'm wrong. It's old coverage right now (MR has long hair) and Herve Leger is today at 2pm eastern, so maybe she's back stage?

Again, apologies. I thought I made it clear that I wasn't trying to jump on anyone in particular. I'm not trying to start a comments arguments. Let's just move on..

    ReplyDelete
  25. I speculated about the photo because there appears to be a logo, and because it amused me to do so. I think it's hilarious for Julia to read here that people don't think she could even get one lousy bouquet on Valentine's Day. I don't give a tinker's dam if she got some or not.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oy vey. I'm sorry people. Seriously. I was just trying to clear a few things up. Speculation is fine...
    Apologies once again.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Actually, as someone that was watching, it WAS live for a few minutes, then went back to being stock "style on the rocks", etc.

Also, on her shitty blog, there are photos of Mary, in Meghan's Westwood dress at the tents, with all her live gear, so, methinks maybe you should do your research before posting, pal. Or at the very least, don't get all up in people's shit.

    xo

    ReplyDelete
  28. Mary is at HL and she does have a live rig. I apologize. I guess the live coverage goes in and out.

The fail here is that the banner says 2/13 when, in fact, they went live 2/15. Also, they should have a banner up saying between live coverage there will be related segments taken from past shows.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes, let's not accept my apologies Anon 1:49 and keep at me. That's really the point here.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Does anyone else automatically assume it's Julia commenting when someone signs 'xo'? I really freaks me out.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hmm, Jankles just twittered 5 minutes ago.

    ReplyDelete
  32. On a lighter note NS/FW chat peeps named JA..

LoloLutu for that god awful tutu that she was wearing

    ReplyDelete
  33. It's cool, TJ. I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to pile on. I was typing and posting my comment before I saw your apology above.

Maybe we're all suffering from PTSD induced by the Barbie debacle.

    ReplyDelete
  34. How about LooneyTuTunes?

    ReplyDelete
  35. It was beyond dumb for them to have that banner up before the coverage started. It's probably because they don't know how to post such things themselves, and couldn't convince their "programmer" to work on the weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  36. At least everyone who clicked on that Live coverage banner at NS got to read some choice comments about them over on Mogulus. You just can't buy that type of advertising...

  37. http://vimeo.com/3226187

Topherchris comes through. Stare at all the ways Jackle's face doesn't move.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Bwahahahahahaha!! I haven't heard so many loons since I left Minnesota. That video is criminally funny.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Also, how come their Mogulus (which till now has only been old footage replaying) constantly has connection and "cannot find frequency" probs? I'd understand to some extent if it were live streaming or even if their page there was overloaded with visitors (obviously not), but otherwise, wtf? If that's happening now, it'll be a shitshow when they're actually trying to stream it live for an active audience. I can hear (er, see?) the pile-on of excuses for technical difficulties already.

Also, considering they've had the Mogulus channel for awhile now, they should probably have figured out all the kinks. Everything always appear so short-sighted and hastily planned. I guess they want to make it look like they're ahead of the curve here, but most people know they're just trying to make up for mediocre content with fancy features.

  40. Squirrel

No problemo! I love all your comments and I'm sorry to have offended. Yes, I have PTSD after seeing the tutu ensemble. It reminded me of a costume I wore for tap class when I was EIGHT YEARS OLD!

    ReplyDelete
  41. who do you think had final say on intern hiring? JA?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I get very frustrated when streaming video from Mogulus. I gave up after three minutes over there, because of the buffering interruptions and huge delay in response to clicking on volume buttons, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hmmm, good question, Beth. I think they may each hire their own interns. Like Matt, who seemed okay, was the exclusively Meghan's intern. And Charlsie seemed like JA's intern primarily which was why I thought it was funny that Mary connected her to tell her to take the blog down. Charlsie spoke of almost exclusively JA errands on her blog, right?

    ReplyDelete
  44. BUNNIES! Mogulus Live purportedly @ 2:30PM EST (5 minutes) - not counting on it, but FYI. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Exactly, TJ. Eight year old girls always insist on doing things like wearing their dance recital outfit with their new Dora the Explorer rain boots on the first day of school. Jackles can't seem to grow out of that stage.

I found some footwear she would squee over here:

    ReplyDelete
  46. Don't bag on Charlsie. She had to write MONTHS worth of these retarded things all at once. Can you blame her for doing them as fast as possible?

But you can blame the Trio for not proof reading them.

    ReplyDelete
  47. And that's what I did, Anon 2:30. I bagged on the trio for not proof reading them. Yeah, she wrote hundred of QOD within days.

  48. Julia's page is down at NS again, get this message:
We couldn't find the page you were looking for.
Feel free to contact support if there's anything we can help you find.

  49. Screen is black for me over at Mogulus with a couple people chatting. I don't think the delay is their fault. These fashion shows start 30-45 minutes late no a good day. Hard to do streaming live coverage that way.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Mary has photos of HL runway on her blog but the 'live' streaming is old Meghanaise interviews. At least it looks like Rambo took the photos herself.

I get this technology is flakey, but so are the NS idiots. They can't even make a functioning website, yet are somehow "all about the tech."

    Yeah, right!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Meaning organizing a live stream is just totally beyond all possibility.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think the show is going on now - there's just no coverage by NS. The Cut (NY mag fashion blog) is twittering about models falling down on the Herve Leger runway.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yeah, I was just at THE CUT and Red Carpet Runway Awards and they are updating re: Harve Leger. Mogulus=Fail.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Daaaaamn. That's some sadness. :( Again, no surprise! I was talking to someone in the Mog chat about my digi story class and a line in a book that reminded me of JA.. just found it and here it is :

"Digital Spectacle vs. Digital Storytelling.... Spectacle is a low form of dramatic engagement...[spectacle] skews expectations. The more we flash lights and turn up the music, the more the audience expects the arrival of a messenger of God to deliver divine wisdom... Most of the time, the spectacle only amplifies a thousandfold the paucity of content.

There's more, but if they really want such insight they'll do the research into what it is they've been claiming to be attempting.

I should start by saying I did a NonSociety-esque site (different in scope though, wasn't "my life" and wasn't 24/7 cameras and whatever else - just reporting on what I found interesting) when I was 13, 14 or so. Pretty successful and surprising media attention. I may relaunch it when I'm ready but clearly relating to my values now (which are insanely different from those as a teen), but yeah NS is great at being a lesson about what to avoid and I won't deny I thought like them at a point. But it was something like 10 years ago. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Err, *should end, rather. What I did was a different time and climate than now, but good lord if this entire debacle doesn't drive home the point for the NEED FOR AUTHENTICITY. Doesn't help that they've launched in recessionary times when people are reevaluating what they deem important/significant/valuable.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Nonny 3:14, hubris does 'em in every time.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The folk at The Cut are really on top of things and post their stuff with dizzying turnaround speed. JA should have used them to identify all those celebs she didn't recognize.

    ReplyDelete
  58. All: I heartily recommend that anyone who has not watched topherchris's BRILLIANT JA/Barbie/Valentine video remix slap up this URL right now & click:

Also, could the RBNS crew embed the video on this site so it is preserved for posterity? It is literally priceless.
