Snowflake: She Likes Us! She Really, Really Likes Us!!

Loren at 1938 Media interviewed the other one tonight at SXSW and she confessed her mother is a big fan of our lowly blog.

That must have gone over big with Jill/Jackles when she crashed at her San Francisco poolhouse a couple of weeks ago. Awkward!

Snowflake, if you're reading? Your daughter really does seem to be a very nice girl who's above all this Jackles-ization. We're sorry if we hurt your motherly feelings by insulting her. But if Ma Baugher shows up here, we're going to urge her to stage an Jackles intervention and get the girl the help she so desperately needs.

    TOO FREAKING FUNNY.

  2. she likes us! she really likes us! and she laughed at "jackles"

    20 points for meghan

  3. This is great! Meghan actually seems like a cool chick who knows the whole NS thing is a bit of a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  4. What a revelation! Meghan seems like a good sport with a sense of humor, about as far removed from ol' Jackles as one could get. No more Meghanaise jabs. At least not from me.

Best moment: when Feldman asks what exactly is "down there" in terms of Julia's vagina. Gold?

    ReplyDelete
  5. It is obvious that Megs is down with the cool kid clubhouse that is RBNS.

I'm glad she sees that the joke is on Jill/Jackles/Yulia and no one else.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Meghan's always been the best sport and the most relatable.

Good on camera and as a blogger: No, not really.

But would you want to be friends with her (not considering her shacking up with Jackles): Yeah, sure. Why the hell not.

    ReplyDelete
  7. If only he had said JANKLES and not Jackles. But, points for Loren regardless.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Meghan is totally lying about reading here. She called it clever and said the writing was good. Uh...RBNS is many things, but it's a nasty little diversion, not quality satire.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Meghan: do a show on racks. I want to know if you and the blond are jealous of Julie's jellytits.

    ReplyDelete
  10. it's devolved since the beginning, but not much, and that's expected anyway since this trainwreck has been rolling on entirely too long.

also, this is MA we're talking about, not a rocket scientist. love her, though! nobody is immune to wanting to know public opinion about them or something they hold dear, especially not those seeking fame.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Did anyone notice that MA did not mention NS and that she was from TMI. I have it on good authority that it's over at the end of the month...

    ReplyDelete
  12. Is that what Baugher is referring to with this comment?

"Meghan? I think you know I know. Don’t let me down. This one time in band camp, I was totally on your team. Pull the trigger, Meghan. "

    ReplyDelete
  13. Anon7:14--I noticed. I very, very noticed, and I hope it's a sign.

If they shut down that site and focused on TMI ... well, they'd still be a bunch of assholes encouraging young girls to do stupid things but at least it would only be a couple of minutes/week instead of ALL. THE. TIME.

    snaps.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anon3:31: That's probably because it's not satire. You might want to look up the word in a dictionary.

  16. Awww Megs.... snif snif.... after watching your interview with Loren I totally have a soft spot in my heart for you. I think the moment you got me was when you looked totally mortified/amused when Loren used the word "Jackles."

You're not off the hook JUST YET but I gotta say it. Team... Asha? Anyone else?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I agree, JON. I was impressed.

    ReplyDelete
  18. i've always liked megan. team Asha over here

    ReplyDelete
  19. we wish team Asha would listen to her fan base more often as it .. might steer away from the most horrific Jackles disasters..

    ReplyDelete
  20. Feldman, can I be your second wife?

Asha...Oh gawd, it's so obvious that you are laughing at Jackles/Jill with us.

Snowflake...plan a jackles intervention with the Baughers! Wait, yeah, I know. The Baughers are totally midwest, stiff upper lip, wierdness. I bet you, a SF hippie mama, feels totally uncomfortable speaking with them.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I, for once, danced a little jig when Feldman referred to Jill from LIU on camera as "Jackles."

And i will retire "Meghanaise" for the time being -- she is definitely upgraded to Megs for now.

And how awesome was Loren in that video!? The question about Jackles vagina was magic.

Indeed, Meghan, pull the trigger, whatever that means.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Some Problems, I'm very sad about retiring Meghanaise but I agree, it's time.

  23. Julia is gonna "cover" some stuff at SXSW. Can't wait to hear her insightful analysis... http://julia.nonsociety.com/lifecast/86355246-0-1

  24. her insightful analysis is that the lights go ON and OFF.

i hope she gets photos of these new, innovative lighting designs.

    Jealous much, Scary Mary?

    ReplyDelete
  26. "You guys are better writers than I am"
    ^^best part

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anony 12:03-Let's just see what she manages to cover. However, seeing that the gals are obvious reading here, and knowing that MR has already integrated some of the advice she's received from commentors here into her blog, I'd bet that Jill is going to try to really cover this event for once--even if it's in her half-assed, mostly pictures, maybe 3 sentence, way.

    ReplyDelete
  28. well of course she thinks the writing is great here. her control group writes things like "X-Nay" and "Donna Karen", and honestly can't even properly (and permanently) communicate an acronym.

    ReplyDelete
  29. And, not to go off topic, but that "screen grab" of MR with her mouth wide open in that FABULOUS ORANGE DRESS (OMG, doesn't she look so fucking good in orange? No one has EVER looked that good in orange before! ORANGE FOREVER) is hysterical.

    ReplyDelete
  30. How did Jill get a press badge? Is it for the LIU newspaper?

    ReplyDelete
  31. ok, the 1938 video is ok.....she definitely can laugh at herself and Julia and the whole situation, and you can tell she's extremely unenthused about the whole thing (like, "oh idk...it's like in the backs of cabs or something....").

HOWEVER. It's laughable that she thinks she's really "putting it all out there" or really putting anything out there. There are a bajillion bloggers with a bajillion percent more transperancy than she has. In fact, I think she barely puts anything out there about her real life or current technology (calling yourself a tech blogger and then doing little more than posting pictures of iPod ads in other countries is more than a little silly).

Megs. Don't let your second-hand embarassment for Julia/association with Julia make you feel so vulnerable. Because saying that you are "putting it all out there" makes you look kind of clueless about what you're actually doing. People actually think you're likeable, and people actually wanted to root for NS but can't because it's become a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Megs should of taken mary to sxsw. she is in texas anyway, just the wrong side. She would at least be covering the event, and if her hard drive failed, she would at least cover it with her phone.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Is the comment about mary looking good in orange sarcastic? I think she looks very nice.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think she looks beautiful, anony 2:34. I was "playing" with a joke that started yesterday. It's a great color for her, one that I could never wear. Her mouth is what look wonky. Stay away from Dr. Bobby!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah, the Loren video was amusing but nothing paradigm shifting. She needs to stop pulling those faces when she's being complimented. It's a sign of galloping self-esteem issues.

Anyway, this is really just to make an OT suggestion--the link to Baugher should go to the Tumbler site, not the blogspot archive that was put up to save the old posts before the current Baugher was reinstated.

I used to use the link to There's Something About Mary to get there, but now I see it's gone.

    ReplyDelete
  36. OK, so Mego is a decent human being but total shit as a blogger.

Better than the other way around.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am still pondering on this gem, curtesy of JA:

'"Research has shown that most people are unbelievably bad at predicting what will give them sustained, long term happiness".

    - Tony Hsieh, Zappos’ CEO. I find this fascinating'.

I on the other hand find this obvious as probably everybody who has not had their brain botoxed. But hey, this is another perfect excuse for her constant failing at finding both success and happiness: Happens to everyone, people. There's research to prove it... Make it stop.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I looked up satire!!!!!

"a literary work holding up human vices and follies to ridicule or scorn"

You mean, that's not what's being attempted here, Anon 9:45?

Hey, I read here obviously. I'm definitely not SM because I don't have that level of energy to focus on making fun of these women. All I'm saying is RBNS is a repository of vitriol, not any kind of artful achievement.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I actually think Meghan is doing a decent job of covering SXSW, content wise. All Jill from LIU knows how to post is photos of her social climbing.

Meghan is definitely winning this round.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Anon 4.56:
I think that is the most poetic way of saying "this site is a bunch of vicious crap" that I have ever seen. Why so courteous?

I do disagree with you, however, because I do not think this site has any clear objective other than being 'Dedicated to watching the trainwreck that is NonSociety, where living differently is what it's all about' (see "mission statement" above) and commenting on what we see. Sometimes funny, sometimes judgmental, sometimes snarky and sometimes outright angry.

Being pretentious and overambitious is purposely left to the cast of NS which, thanks to JA's outstanding achievements, is so much of a real-life satire that it suffices to watch and document to make people either laugh, cry or yell at the top of their lungs.

I also would not diminish what the main contributors post here because some of the stuff is brilliant, some, as Russian Girl says, 'write itself' and some simply shows how people with a more or less "normal" outlook on life react to the virtual insanity over there.

If that qualifies as a repository of vitirol, you have made your point. If not, you may want to reconsider.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 5:14 -- Chill out. All I was saying was Meghan was wrong, either because is stupid or because she doesn't actually read here. I wasn't trying to insult anyone. You just took like 200 words to basically agree with me, so you might want to rethink your first sentence.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, sounded like that to me, never mind then.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anon 5:17.
It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement....

    Well, I'm glad that's settled.

    ReplyDelete
  44. "(see "mission statement" above)"

    "brillant"

    cannot decided between:

oh gawd and wow, just wow.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Careful Anon 4:56, the lead commenters here are obsessed with making SM their scapegoat and anyone who disagrees with the status quo will be accused of being her. Scapegoat Mary = SM. Anyone who has a different opinion is Julia, is SM or is one of them posing as someone else? Do you not see how stupid that sounds? Do you guys really believe that? Call me her if you want to commenters but she has been reblogging these girls way longer and has never trashed this site on her page like this page does to her. I've emailed her a few times and she's a nice normal girl behind the snark and she's never done anything to anyone and I for one am tired of seeing her dragged through the mud on this page. She was candid and genuine and I happen to like her. I also like the fact that tearing apart NS is not her sole purpose like this site. She is trying to do something of her own and however it turns out that's something I respect. Not everyone hates her and I think most who do on this page are just jumping on the bandwagon. The point is to discuss NS here. And I happen to miss her comments here. I think the commenters here need to chill out and give her a fair shot. I also think it's childish RBNS removed her link. You both have the same gripes you should be on the same team. Not everyone here is the best writer and I'm sure all your lead commenters have said things that have upset people just like she has.

  47. "A Wankathon War of Semantics!!"

a.k.a. "a masturbation of meaning", which, of course, is an oxymoron; however, I seem to have just engaged in it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Total Jing,

If I was MA or MR, I would secretly fly in JA's parents and stage a suprise intervention on TMI. Damn, that episode would go down in the history of the internets!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Meghan,

Flattery will get you everywhere. No more Meghanaise for me until the next blogging vacation. Although, I am contemplating "Asha, Destroyer of Laptops," or Adol for short, which is, ironically, also the name of a narcotic.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Someone said something about this site jumping the shark yesterday. I'm sorry to gripe, but I feel like the quality of RBNS has suffered as Nonsociety seems more and more to be stagnant. The creator of RBNS worked in news media herself. She doesn't post anymore and I feel like some of the commenters have only been here since Julia was mentioned in the NYT a few weeks ago. Did someone really write "should of" instead "should've" in this thread?

Again, hate to bitch because this site's great. I'm not SM either -- that girl is an idiot who puts apostrophes after a word if she wants to make it plural.

    ReplyDelete
  51. FYI Julia obvs. has been reading this site. She posted that she rescheduled the MIT talk for April and also set up a new "24 dates in 24 hours."

If you all hadn't been the guardian of her memories, she probably would not have bothered.

    ReplyDelete
  52. "that girl is an idiot who puts apostrophes after a word if she wants to make it plural"

such a good reason not to like someone, right?

  53. Meghan appears to be the only one of the unholy trio who is not a pain in the ass. That is the highest praise that I, as a misanthrope, can bestow.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Loren has X-ray vision when it comes to bullshit. I love his interviews.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think RBNS is actually helping these nitwits, and that is also kind of the point a bit. Not everyone commenting here hates the Trio of Distortion and many are disappointed fans.

So to classify all commenters as having a similar agenda is incorrect. If i recall correctly, this site was invented to give commenters of all walks of life a space to comment b/c NS took that away.

But let's get back to the Trio of Distortion... They do seem to be trying a lot harder. And i think it *is* b/c they read this site and are taking a lot of it to heart. Megs' coverage of SXSW actually has content and a point of view.

MarMar is doing a great job blogging about style and such down there is Texas w/ her Mewmaw and i can see this material being of interest to many 100s of people. She is democratically including all kinds of style enthusiasts and it is actually engaging.

Jackles seems also to be trying, but in her case that is an uphill battle of epic proportions b/c she can't escape her cloying personality and fake-ass agenda of crass social climbing. She is trying at SXSW -- but for my $$, Megs is winning because she is a much more natural person and is actually discussing content.

Megs has impressed me this weekend. Yes, let's see how long it lasts.

    ReplyDelete
  56. SM, fucking dissolve already. Nobody will give you a second chance around here unless you stop inciting commenter-on-commenter hate by picking on commenters. It's as simple as that. If you JOIN us in our snark, you would be welcomed back with open arms.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Scary Mary seems to have a lot of extra time on her hands lately. She has been showing up here with frightening regularity, attacking anybody who dares to say one nice thing (out of a zillion mean ones) about Mary Rambin. She also makes frequent comments maligning RBNS itself. Then she wonders why nobody likes her.

We know it's you, honey. It's always you. People who visit this site to tear down the authors and commenters are not welcome and will be piled on. If that gets you hot, then keep it up, I guess. On the other hand, if you want to visit here and snark on NS or TMI in a witty manner, go for it.

(That psychotic seething hate thing you have for Mary R. is fine for your own site, but you'll need to tone it down and make it funny, in order to make it palatable or tolerated over here.)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Uh, so all of the commenters here have to agree on everything?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Evolve and Dissolve: For God's sake, try a little subtlety. Who else is as emotionally invested in a blog no one reads? How stupid do you think we are?

    ReplyDelete
  60. I AM NOT SM. Jesus H Christ you guys really are being close minded and unfair. You assume any poster Anonymous or otherwise who springs to her defense or any commenter who hates Mary is her and that makes my point. If you say I am her and I know I'm not, it makes me think all the times you have said someone else is her it's probably not. Scary Mary hasn't seemed to show her face here for weeks but you keep saying anyone you feel is not in line with you is her. And your reblogs are not somehow less hateful. There is no area of any of these girls lives or appearances that the commenters here haven't attacked. Commenters here are no better or worse at writing or hating these imbecile's of NS. Prove that these comments you say she has spent so much time here making are actually from her or stop blaming her for them. I read both sites and have agreed and disagreed on both sites. But I have checked the stats for RBNS and you get so many visits it's very probable that there are other people leaving these comments and is it fair to blame it all on one person? I really don't think it is.

    ReplyDelete
  61. i agree with evolve. the whole, "we hate SM" thing is getting REALLY REALLY OLD. can we PLEASE give it up? if everyone here hates her SOOO much, start a freakin blog about it. seriously. she doesn't even come to this site anymore. this site is about NS. if you think some one the anon commenters are SM, then just ignore them.

cue people calling me SM in 5...

    ReplyDelete
  62. No one reads her blog? You'd be wrong there too.

    ReplyDelete
  63. "If you say I am her and I know I'm not, it makes me think all the times you have said someone else is her it's probably not."

That is a very good point. It's like some of the commenters here think they're so infallible that no one by SM has any reason to disagree with them. Think about how crazy that seems.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Whatever. Can these threads cease to devolve into ridiculous sock-puppet arguments about a blog that has nothing to do with ours? Seriously. Enough. Go comment on the blog in question, then. It's there. It exists. Go to it!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Jacy you say that but it's the bloggers and commenters on this site that keep bringing her up. Yet again, as soon as anyone disagrees with that they are told to "comment on the blog in question".

But on the blog in question, I don't see her making a running commentary on this blog and it's content. Only the other way around.

I will continue to read this blog and I will continue to read hers and I will continue to say my opinion when she is brought up over here. If you don't want to talk about her, don't bring her up. But if it's brought up we all have just as much a right to discuss it here since it was brought up here.

    ReplyDelete
  66. So, Evolve, try ignoring them. No one really pays much attention and usually sticks to the topic at hand. If you don't engage, the conversation/accusations will stop.

And what bloggers have ever brought her up here? I don't think any of us have ever mentioned her in a single post we've ever made.

It's neither here nor there to us -- there are lots of bloggers ripping on Nonsociety. If one or two commenters want to assume any negative comment about Mary here is coming from her, so be it. It's called the Internet. There's no policing it. We'd really prefer not to have to get into the business of deleting comments.

Meghan Asha: Only YOU can stop commenter-on-commenter violence.

Julia Allison: Oh, oh, oh, that reminds me of the time that my ex, *en, went there. Remember, he used to do that; All. The. Time. Seriously, though, go to Hell.com. Ha Ha Ha. Right now I'm SO HAPPY!

This message brought to you by NBC and TMI Weekly.

  68. I guess I'm the only one whose opinion on Meghan didn't change and who didn't find her any more likable than before. I must be more anti-NS than I thought. :)

Then again I haven't been reading any of their SXSW coverage and I've never been one of the Meghan fans anyway. When I do feel some positivity for any of them it's for Mary, minus the deliberate lack of spell check, and the Obama and prochoice type comments of course.

    --Ineff.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Absolutely not, Ineff., I am so with you on that one. The Asha charme continuously fails to work on me and I seriously don't see getting more than a brimful changing that.

I have been called scarry mary, and, I am not.

    Consider the source.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Scarry Mary? Hmmm ... I've never heard of her.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Honestly, I think Meghan is just as bad as the other two. She is just as insecure as Julia, only her insecurities are manifested in pathetic videos that she thinks are "putting it out there," and when she gets the slightest criticism, her ego is shattered. It's really sad, for a woman going into 30, to not yet have a sense of self.

Not to mention to quit your hedge fund job to promote and cover a field that is more nuanced than just posting pictures of new gadgets. That was shortsighted and really just a stupid decision. Instead of growing from the experience of co-founding NonSociety, she's just buckling and allowing this site and all of her critics to run her rather than the other way around. Her half-hearted attempt at playing cool was really just another way to avoid putting it out there. A confession about why she doesn't post as much and when she does, she only posts little content, would have been more well-received.

I'm on no team here. They are all sad little souls looking for someone to validate them.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Megan - cool or not cool?

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

    It's all relative, folks.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Meghan's such a phony. She's like the person who pretends she's not a certain way but really is. Make no mistake that she's exactly like Julia in every way, including as vain. Every guy I know thinks Meghan is so unattractive but she's constantly crowing about her beauty and flinging that stringy hair.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Count me among those not impressed by Meghan. I don't dislike her, but I don't particularly like or respect her. Maybe it's because she really doesn't "put it all out there," so there isn't enough for me to work up any real dislike, as I have for Jill from LIU.
