UPDATE: Julia -- Another Cryptic Twit

  1. I always thought we were in this together.

Is it a song lyric? Another ploy for attention directed at an ex? Has she finally figured out that both Rambo and Megs are sickened by her? Or is she talking to Lily? Did Lily get into the cupcakes stash again?

UPDATE: Aha! So! I am deciphering this next Twit as Jackles crying to Mommy about her business partners, and Mommy is reassuring her that male business partners bail on failed and disastrous businesses as well. Verrrry interesting. And so classy, as always, to put this sort of thing on Twitter.

  1. Oh Sweet, sweet Jesus, with your kind eyes, knowing heart and rock-hard pooper, please, please, tell us the final chapter has begun! Please lt them now turn on each other, in a frenzy of blame, insults and arguments over money!! Let today be the day that leads to the day when one of these ignortant, self-centered monsters threatens to sue the others in court.

Oh, dimple-assed Jesus, give us justice!

  2. What ever happen to Julia's suggestions for vimeo?

did they take Julia bi-polar express to the North Pole?

  3. I hope this is it, too. Doesn't Julia know that female "group" friendships -- ESPECIALLY when there are 3 involved (someone always gets left out and backstabbed by the other two. ALWAYS) are a nighmare? Life is not Waiting to Exhale or Sex and the City. It took me a long time to get this straight but now that I have, I'm much much happier. Oh and random: Does anyone know where I can see Jankles on Chelsea Lately? Why is the footage not easily found?

Personally, I think it's just another classic Julia ploy for attention. We all know she reads over here. We've recently been speculating (as recently as this morning) about who will bail first - Mary or Megan. Julia's just being a dancing monkey again and trying to gin up some drama in her otherwise sad little life. ZZZZZZZZ.

  6. Please let this be an indication that Meghan is pulling out as their (sole?) investor.

Do you think Julia will ask her for a Mac Book afterward? I know you guys get this reference. ;)

  12. we'll get one or two more posts about how haters and the internet drove them out. Maybe a psychadelic vow from Julia Allison to now devote her life/career to cleaning up the internet.
One or two more post mortems form Gawker, or wired or whoever.
    And then the end.
But here's the great part: it will go down as a failure. Meaning, the next group with a similar idea will do a little research and see how this turned out. The next group will not be so cavalier as to think you can start " um, like, an on-line magazine, omg, but better" sort of thing with no technical, journalistic or critical thinking skills.
    At least they should.

  13. So like Julia... blaming her business failure on being a woman with FEELINGS and EMOTIONS. Oh no, men would never fail! Julia just wants to start a business and go to Harvard and make fuck you money and use profanity like a REAL MAN.

    Disgusting pig.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I just hope no one here chokes on this double whammy bait. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, sit back and wait for the drama to unfold. Looking promising, though.

P.S. I like the thought of a sophisticated mother using the term whack glasses, anybody else feel the same?

    ReplyDelete
  15. There is no lawsuit. Her Mom was speaking hypothetically and comparing her fighting with M/M with men and how they deal with disagreements.

I still don't see any word that NS /TMI is over.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I would love to think of this actually being then end. That Meg informed Julia she's done, and taking the money with her.

All the while Mary is with some friend of hers shooting pictures of herself shopping for designer labels in Darien Ct, one of the most disgusting overindulged places to emerge in the last 10 years of hedge fund robbery.

Like he rphone rings. And as her little fauxtographer keeps snapping she's like "Oh. What? It's over? What?"

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hm, this smells of a publicity stunt. I'll believe it when I see it!

  18. Now Hiring: TV FILLERMarch 9, 2009 at 3:27 PM

3:22 - you are on something psychadelic if you think Wired gives two shits about Julia's startup! HA! And Julia has already blamed the haters and tried to clean up the internet to cover for her failures. Next she'll just blame it on the recession... never EVER her own laziness, horrible work ethic and terrible business plan. But I guess she's living out the meltdown publicly, too. At least she's committing to "lifecasting" until the end!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Okay so possible scenarios:

    1. Meghan's dad convinces her to pull out of NS after seeing how depressed and anxious his little girl has become. Meghan=money so this spells the end of NS.

    2. Mary joins her posturing twink friend to start some sort of fashion website, one that will produce actual revenue with content and article instead of just personal photos. Mary, knowing a good opportunity when she sees it, tells Julia she is fleeing NS.

Actually, it might be a combo of both.

    ReplyDelete
  20. 3:27: I am sceptical, too. Doesn't anybody have access to further information to substantiate the rumours?

    ReplyDelete
  21. 3:22: This will no doubt go down as a failure, even if they fold next week, month or year. (And they will fold eventually.)

The best part is in the future when people are pitching website ideas to investors they will say things like "Now, we don't want another NonSociety situation" or "This isn't going to be a Julia Allison-type thing" with NonSociety and Julia's name becoming synonymous with failure and stupid ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 3:30 NNN has leaks that come in here and dish dirt occasionally. Julia will probably blab about the situation soon enough. Maybe we should send emails to Jules and co. to get their reaction? Don't say it is for RBNS but act like a "loyal reader" who "would hate to see the end of NS!"

    ReplyDelete
  23. This reeks of just another sad, thinly veiled grab at attention. Remember - she's the master of innuendo, fakery, half truths and creating drama out of nothing. I think our sad little bunny is just home alone in her apartment, nothing to do, no friends, not even a sad cable TV news appearance lined up, and she's sitting around on her laptop writing the next scene in her own personal online reality show. However, she's grown lazy and not a very good writer anymore and most people can see right through her silly middle school drama. Hmm.... lemme guess what's next. A date with [redacted] tonight, twittering from the restaurant bathroom, a "zen" moment and a quote from some self help book, photobooth picture and a picture of her dog. Lather, rinse, repeat, hit the snooze button again and again and again.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anon 3:32, you're giving them way too much credit. In the grand scheme of web start ups, Nonsociety is a fancy tumblr that's barely on anyone's radar. No one will find them synonymous with web failures because besides us and some Gawker readers, no one knows about them.

    ReplyDelete
  25. As much as I want to believe that the end is near, I have a hard time believing that if NS were really folding, she'd be putting it up on Twitter where she knows we will see and enjoy it.

    I hope I'm wrong!

  31. NonE - you're right. The ONE area in her life where Julia has extreme self discipline is keeping mysteriously silent when things don't go her way. She'll hint at and hype the hell out of something until it doesn't pan out then SILENCE. The Bravo show, the huge apartment... there are many more examples. Why, wasn't today the day that she was scheduled to speak at MIT? Why yes, yes it was!

    http://julia.nonsociety.com/post/79243717-0-0

    ReplyDelete
  33. @[redacted] NonEntity:

oh she puts everything up! she seems incapable of keeping anything to herself. Her mistake is inevitably saying too much, NEVER saying to little. I personally believe the "paradigm" announcement was to set up her inevitable spin of NS's demise. Like when she left Star: It will be, "I had a spiritual awakening and realized I needed to go on my OWN and become the spiritual leader I am meant to be."

I know this doesn't need saying, but how annoying was that God blip a month or so back? It was like, "oh I haven't thought about religion in ten years but now that it has crossed my mind I would like to GUIDE and TEACH you.

  35. My favorite ice cream flavor is schadenfreudeMarch 9, 2009 at 4:01 PM

Julia only crows publicly when things are "good" in her eyes - going somewhere high profile, being with someone high profile or doing something high profile. She NEVER EVER admits failure publicly. She's just trying to wring any drop of attention/page views she can from her dead "business." But tell us again how you want to sell Nonsociety in 3-5 years, Oprah Baugher.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Flatface, mwahaha on the Hotmail reference. AOL would have been an equally good substitute.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I actually think she's just stupid enough to Twitter this because she knows the news is getting out and she wants to make it look like SHE'S the virtuous on who wanted to keep it going but was so bitterly disappointed by one or both of her friends. She must always be seen as the heroic one, the brave one, the victimized one, the NICE ONE!!!! SHE'S NICE!!! SHE WOULD NEVER SCREW OVER HER FRIENDS!!

AND SHE'S SO SO SO HAPPY!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Flatface, you have just written something funnier and more clever in two minutes than all of Julia's much-blogged IMs, chats and conversations combined (which I am sure she is saving for the screenplay that she's writing.) How is new year's resolution coming along anyway, Julia? I am sure you have plenty of time to work on it now that you're done filming unfunny VH1 clip shows (that will air in the 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. time slot for 3 to 5 years!!! You're practically immortal!!)

    ReplyDelete
  39. One one problem here Jules, no one will really believe that you thought you were all in this together. MA and MR have just been sock puppets supporting the JA Show.

    ReplyDelete
  40. She must always be seen as the heroic one, the brave one, the victimized one,

Exactly. She's painting this as her friends deserted her. We've all seen it coming. Where there's smoke, there's cupcakes, people.

You know what I'm afraid of? I'm afraid that in her soon-to-be-forcibly-imposed downtime, Julia will discover MommyBlogging and set out on a desperate quest to spawn as a means of launching a new "career."

    ReplyDelete
  42. Actually, Smokey Cupcakes is also going to be my stripper/drag queen/Julia Allison impersonator name.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yes, remember when the Internet and Gawker were ruining her life? She was simply a victim of the Internet! It had NOTHING to do with outing Lodwick's mental health issues and then demanding that shitty laptop she's bitching about. It's never her fault.

She's setting it up so that she can blame Meghan and/or Mary, whoever it is that is going to take the fall.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hahaha at mommyblogging. She'll think she invented the medium. Let's nip that in the bud right now, shall we? Julia, visit www.dooce.com.

    ReplyDelete
  45. So, how come Gawker hasn't picked up on any of this? They've been unusually silent throughout the past couple weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Anon 4:27 - No! It'll be a whole new form of journalism and she and her defenseless tadpole will be the first people to do it! I mean, have you ever heard of anyone else filming the birth? You have? Thousands of times? Nevermind, she is at the Forefront. Of. This. New. Medium. People.

Maybe she can get Baby Gap to loan her outfits for photoshoots.

  48. The Smoking CupcakeMarch 9, 2009 at 4:37 PM

Gawker hasn't picked up on it because they don't care about Julia anymore. She's become tragically boring, even for them. But, Julia's manic personality/unhealthy need for attention has been compared to the Octomom already so let's not give her any ideas about mommyblogging, shall we? Unless she truly has become religious and believes in immaculate conception, I don't think The Universe is going to magically give her a child no matter how much she thinks it into being.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The Smoking Cupcake, don't worry, she hasn't listened to anything I've said, as evidenced by the fact that she's still 'lifecasting' and not working as a birthday party hostess at a Chuck E. Cheese in Milwaukee.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ah, throw in the usual male/female dichotomy -- oh, girls, how bad they can be to one another. Backstabbers! Can't she see beyond black and white? Maybe it is time to grow up, dear.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Flatface, that was some great dialog. Oh, what NS could have been with a little self-deprecating humor and a good team of writers!

It is OVER though, folks. Julia is just getting ahead of the story. Anyway, it really is Megs fault. Megs was CEO. Megs, do you think your daddy abandoned the ship of his start-up when the going was tough? No! And, if, God forbid, he was in charge of this shit-show, he would have probably stayed and valiantly tried to turn it around. You were always the "weakest-link" so I am actually going the sympathize w/ Mary and Julia for once!

    ReplyDelete
  52. The Smoking CupcakeMarch 9, 2009 at 4:52 PM

HA! Smokey Cupcakes, we all know that working as a birthday party hostess at Chuck E. Cheese in Milwaukee would be exactly what Julia Baugher would be doing right now if she lived in a parallel universe without her parent's money and favors. What was that movie that Julia wrote about once? Sliding Doors? Um, yah.

Jackles is supposed to be at SXSW this Sunday, gang. She will be interviewing Lisa Camahort live. I'm hoping for a Sarah Lacey-type disaster.

I'm also laffing my ass off that she'll be there to interview a successful web entrepreneur, and not being interviewed herself.

    ReplyDelete
  55. What I don't understand is, if MarMar is rich, why can't she just get NYC rent money from Daddy, hire a broker, and get a place? What's with all this New Caanan Hillbillies nonsense?

    ReplyDelete
  56. @Anon 5:01PM

I think that MarMar's parents actually care for her, so they are going to let her struggle for a little bit and let her find her own bearings. Love has teeth.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I know I'm late to the party on this one, but you're telling me that the "haters" beat them to the punch on twitter.com/nonsociety? Wow. Julia couldn't even stake out a spot on Twitter for her own site but we're supposed to buy her as an "expert" on the thing on TV. Wow, just. ZOW.

    ReplyDelete
  58. The Smoking CupcakeMarch 9, 2009 at 5:13 PM

Mary's Texas oil exec father divorced Mary's mother when she was young, got remarried and had Leven and son with the second wife. I am guessing that he's probably not too interested in bankrolling his adult daughter's unemployed lifestyle. She probably has a trust fund or some money from him (perhaps from her handbag business?) but I don't get the idea that he's quite the lifelong financier that Meghan's dad is.

    ReplyDelete
  59. What I don't understand is, if MarMar is rich, why can't she just get NYC rent money from Daddy, hire a broker, and get a place?

Maybe because she's been working with Julia for the past year and saw how that worked out for her? I'm starting to think that Mary has a little more integrity than we originally gave her credit for.

    ReplyDelete
  60. @Anon 5:01 - She's made reference to 'her' apartment in the Hamptons, so I would guess that her family is happy to let her stay in a property they already own, but they won't buy her her own place. Than again, I have no inside knowledge, so my thoughts on this are worth less than the clearance price of one of Mary's fanny packs for the wrist.

  74. About NY Nonstop:
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29592194/

Altoosa was a teenvogue editor or something who got a little attention when she quit/was fired and announced some web enterprise she was doing. It was about empowering young women or something - while she sat out in the Hamptons having babies with her rich hubby. I think it no longer exists. She was a similar gawker-created flash-in-the-pan head-up-her-own-ass type.

    ReplyDelete
  75. BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!! TMIweekly was picked up by NBC's new channel: New York NonStop.

This means nothing. It means NNN isn't renewing their contract and they sold the already taped content to some little watched cable show. They might as well sell it to the company that creates those clips for the TVs in Taxis.

    ReplyDelete
  76. 168 episodes.
Um, no. There one of those stations that is gonna air the same stuff over and over.... they just launched this week.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Well, if they don't have time for Nonsociety, that would be a partial victory for me. Plus, they'll be a lot easier to ignore since I don't live in NYC and won't see that filler channel. Isn't that kind of stuff like one step below the TV Guide channel anyway??

    ReplyDelete
  78. Maybe she wanted Meghan out. Meghan leaves and has to give up her equity, then, BAM!, NBC comes in, and now JA only needs to split the loot with MR. We'll see. Then again, maybe she played us. My hat is off to her if she did!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yeah, have to agree with 5:32. There was no "picking up" of anything. Nice use of industry lingo, Jules. NBC is not funding anything that was a) so poorly produced and b)so lacking in content.

This NBC channel, which I'm sure is as little watched as the HD channel, bought the episodes already filmed. And, I'll bet, JA and crew didn't get a dime from it. NNN did.

    ReplyDelete
  80. It's like NY1 or that channel that always showed fashion week on repeat in NYC (the channel was taken off air due to some issue with Time Warner).

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hmmm so what this really means is NNN dumped TMI Weekly and the ladies will no longer have an online video presence. Not that I really give two hoots but wasn't the whole point of NS to be online? No-one outside NY will be able to watch TMI Weekly now - oh noes!!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. So... in summary: the girl who was on the cover of Wired and supposed to be Carrie 2.0 and have her own Bravo show has been reduced to filming segments for a microchannel? And is proudly bragging about it? I think Julia's microfame has been downgraded to nanofame.

  95. 4:29PM Gawker's love affair with Jackles has cooled considerably over the past 6 months. Insiders say Denton was humiliated when he defended her Bravo RS chances and then it fell through. Just like the ladies looks, her cewebrity is wanning.

    ReplyDelete
  96. 6:22: Of course Denton was humiliated, if Julia had her own reality show it would have pulled Gawker's PVs and notoriety up, he would have been responsible for making a real "star!" When Julia's show fell through it showed that the media gossiping/celebrity business wasn't strong enough to sustain a nationwide interest.

I also think it has to do with the fact that most of the current editors loathe writing about her (even though she = major Pvs). She also is too niche for Gawker's current model so they aren't too interested in minor JA gossip anymore.

Besides, now there is RBNS, Trainwrecks, Web20morons, Baugher...so many sites are dedicated to JA-bashing. Jezebel could have a shot at taking over the JA bashing on Gawker but I know for a fact that Anna Holmes detests JA and avoids having the editors write about her because she knows it feeds JA's ego.

"As a boy in tiny Stonewall, La. (pop. 100), J. Howard Rambin Jr. got some early experience in how to be a Friendly Texaco Dealer: he used to man the Texaco pump in front of his father's general store. A lot of gas has gone through the pumps since then, and Texaco is now the nation's eighth largest corporation and the only oil company with outlets in all 50 states. Howard Rambin has been moving too. Last week, at 53, he was named Texaco's new chairman and chief executive officer, a post in which he will replace retiring Augustus C. Long, 60, Texaco's top boss for the past eight years."

  99. After that tragic grammar? I can barely show my login over here.

You probably have the same tips in your inbox. Just awaiting some confirmation.

There is something hysterical about the fact that their "big television deal" is on a channel you have never heard of, directed to the very same people who might be amused by their blog. Unemployed NYers at home, watching television.

I am a little disappointed in Mary, even though I only had her in the box to place.

Also, she isn't very well liked at VH-1. Holy hell.

  101. You know what is really sad? The genesis for Nonsociety was really a dream that started with Julia and Meghan:

Who we are? The Geekettes are two tech savvy girls in NYC, looking to revolutionize the world of technology news and videos. We are currently looking for other Geekettes that have a lust for tech the way we do. If you’re interested in being featured as one of our Geekettes, shoot us an email at Geekette@TheGeekettes.com.

    Ha. The first site:

  102. Interesting that this 'Baugher' commenter points out that the NS blog is watched by "Unemployed NYers at home", when the actual beauty behind the Baugher Blog: Reblogging Julia, was that the blog was uploaded from followers across the country. This way the IP address could not be traced.

Plus, I am just not feeling the eloquence.

  105. Julia was interviewed and gave this story about being stalked by this unknown person: the "Baugher Blogger" Julia stated that she thought the blogger was from seattle, in her forties and divorced.

Baugher replied by reminding Our Lady of Introspection that the site was not maintained from one IP address, that there were 100's of tipsters and while one person might write the site, there were many accross the country [I believe Canada as well] that were willing to participate in this reblogging fiasco.

This knowledge did not jive with the above Baugher commenter statement that NS was followed by bored New Yorkers.

Nonny 8:09 - 8:35 what the hell are you all drinking, antifreeze? At least read Baugher's comment for comprehension before going off on a wild tangent.

The comment was that the NEW CHANNEL would be WATCHED by unemployed New Yorkers, who are the same people who MIGHT BE AMUSED BY THE BLOG. What's not true about that?

How does that imply that nobody outside of New York reads and/or hates NS? What does it say about the location of the author of the Baugher blog at all? Not a damn thing.

Good lord, did I just walk into the Twilight Zone? Or did Scary Mary just drop by for another trollish visit??

    Actually the comment was:

"their "big television deal" is on a channel you have never heard of, directed to the very same people who might be amused by their blog.'

    the very same people...

you did not walk into the twilight zone, but you do live in a blogosphere, Internet Snark Machine,

I remember a day on this site when many people seemed to be commenting under the name Paul, but for today, if someone types Baugher into the 'name' we should shut up and buy it...

yeah, yous are as smart as mary.
