Julia: She is SO Funny.com!

Her most recent Twit:
"He should really go to Hell.com!!" - line I just sent in an email to @sarahcuda. I think this phrase is totally going to catch on.

Has ever a woman existed who is more enamored of herself -- every wonk, every hair extension, every false eyelash, every imagined witticism, every deranged New Year's resolution list, every tiresome IM exchange, every pink-light-bulbed, photo-shopped image of herself -- than this woman?

No.com!

  1. She is SO desperate to coin a phrase, just like her other idol Paris Hilton did with "that's hot."

  2. God I love this website.

  3. Stop trying to make fetch happen, Julia.

  4. Hell yeah it's gonna catch on - if there's a tear in the time-space continuum and we end up back in 1999...

  6. What a wit! Ol' Jackles has nothing on Oscar Wilde and Dorothy Parker . . . except maybe ratty hair extensions.

  7. Oooh, Julia, you know what word you should coin:

    "blerg.com"

That's like Liz Lemon and Carrie Bradshaw rolled into one delicious shit-sandwich!

  8. I can't believe this woman exists. Maybe she's been working on an undercover story of how to be the most annoying, irrevelevant, attention whore on earth and this behavior for the past few yrs has all really been part of a sociological study for a cosmo article. That's an ending I'll be comfortable with unless she is committed. It just goes to show how lame the people she name-drops and conducts these public exchanges attempting (unsuccessfully) to show she's witty or cute really must be.

  9. Yeah, Warlocks and hell.com, that's enough coinage in a 24 hour period. Julia, you really need to get some sleep, babe. A wordsmith you is not.

  10. I am sorry, who is this @saracuda person?

I wonder if she is a friend or is someone she Tweetstalking a la @aplusk or @mrskutcher? (which is just embarassing). Don't you love that @aplusk follows Meghan, but not Jules? She must have died a little inside when she found that out...

  11. I think it's Sara Lacy.

  12. @saracuda is a "tech personality." Last year at SXSW she was hated upon:

Fun read, if your bored or sleepless.

  13. Yes, it's Sara Lacy, the laptop of Silicon Valley. She's a horrible interviewer (note last years SXSW interview with Mark Zuckerberg) and a panderer to the Valley's top execs so she can give fawning praise. She has written a book with some insiders flair, but overall she's a bore.

  15. Man, it looks like Julia could be the copy editor for this Denmark-based "conference" that she plans on attending:

"NEXT no. 6 is held in Århus on April 2+3+4+5 2009 as part conference, part exhibition. A dozen of the most daunting international minds on business, technology and invention will take the conference stage. And 100 of the most perspectivating, forward facing and unexpected uses of new technology is drawn from research labs, startups, and R&D facilities from around the globe, to be showcased, tried, discussed and probably fixed a few times during the four day exhibition."

    http://www.ilab.dk/next

Daunting international minds? Perspectivating? Really? I'm glad that it is being held in our-ass.

  16. Julia's bio for the above conference:

"She has adorned the prized cover of Wired, appears weekly on CNN, and is a regular with CBS, NBC, and Fox. Julia Allison is hailed as a new media marketing genius and flashes all 2.0 tricks daily as founder of life cast phenomenon NonSociety.com. A non conformist writer, Julia was named both "most famous journalist", NY Magazine, and 3rd Most Hated Person on the Internet, Radar Magazine. In the same year."

If this were an alternate universe (yuliverse?), it would be true.

    So sad. Poor Yulia.

    ReplyDelete
  17. "flashes all 2.0 tricks daily"

    That's roughly accurate.

  18. Anon 11:32 -- Pithy, funny, perfect.

    "That's so fetch."

Especially nice reference given the Tina Fey angle.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Actually Julia is quite clever. She left the hyphen out of "non-conformist writer", showing that, indeed, she doesn't conform to things such as correct punctuation. Or grammar for that matter. If this has been professionally written/subbed it would have read: "Julia, a non-conformist writer, was named "most famous journalist" by NY Magazine as well as being awarded Third Most Hated Person on the Internet by Radar Magazine.

    Non-conformist.com!

    ReplyDelete
  20. There's no hyphen in noncomformist, it's just one word. Bio did get it wrong though.

  22. According to Sarah Lacey's Twitters, the crazy Blueprint Cleanse costs $85.00 per day!!!!

sarahcuda: @juliaallison: considering blueprint but $85 per day is pretty damn expensive for a recession!!!

  23. BunnyBingo,

Sure it's expensive, after all, the founders of Blueprint Cleanse have to eat! Wait a sec...

  24. The only new term coined from Nonsociety will be Meghanaise.

  25. Julia is folling MarMar again.

Also: she just started following John Mayer, who happens to be following Ashton Kutcher (and vice versa; they just @'ed each other).

How much do you want to bet that John Mayer is JABba's next victim?

    SO. PATHETIC. DOT. COM.

  26. People have been saying dot com for forever. Another clue that Julia is ten years behind the rest of the world.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I could not stand on stage and speak for a new company that is owned by two other people. They do not own a major corporation, and they do not own Facebook, a company with many employees. Perhaps, Julia is the talking-head of nonsociety.com from an agreement amongst the three. However, her own personal fight for fame shines through.

Her DLD presentation was dominated by a video, minimal talking on her behalf. A talking-head she is not. The video presented itself. Perhaps, Meghan and Mary are too nervous to speak in front of crowds, but they better learn fast that this is what owning a business is about -- communicating, presenting and promoting.

How they let that retard go on stage in her costumes and "speak" about nonsociety.com is beyond me. And, as I said, I would want the two of them up there with me out of respect and out of a desire to promote in full-force. After all, they are friends and they are all in this together.

Everything ends up being a vehicle for the Julia Allison Baugher ambition-parade.

Another unprofessional talk, Julia? I bet my life.

  28. Sarah Lacey is a perfect example of how "tech" has become the refuge of pseudo-journalists. Her recent guest posts on TechCrunch were the text equivalent of a Bobby Jindal speech. Why do so many people who just can't write decide they want to have careers as writers?

    ReplyDelete
  29. "She has adorned the prized cover of Wired, appears weekly on CNN, and is a regular with CBS, NBC, and Fox. Julia Allison is hailed as a new media marketing genius

How on earth do the people running this conference just publish this batch of lies? Yet ANOTHER organization that doesn't fact check?

This woman is seriously mentally ill, and probably belongs in an institution, not traipsing through Europe and lying to (so-called) professionals at some conference.

    ReplyDelete
  30. She went to NonSociety.com recently?

Did she mean that when typing Hell.com?

Great Tech Interviwer Ester Dyson would never associate with Julia..and we can be glad..

who is Ester Dyson? The original tech interviewer of tech who started when PC industry started..

    ReplyDelete
  31. in light of julia's upcoming trip to Denmark I have a blog post request! someone please embed the DLD video so we can all talk about it, please.

  32. Obscure European conferences are the only place Julia can get work anymore because they haven't caught yet on that she's a complete fraud.

  33. Off topic, but has anybody checked out Jankles' latest blogs about shoes.

Apparently they were all sent in by different readers, but the shoe pictures look EXACTLY THE SAME! Oh and reader "Monica" took a picture of herself in the shoes; however, reader "Monica" has that very familiar poofy look.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Posting pictures of shoes is not a lifecastMarch 11, 2009 at 9:34 AM

Regarding the shoe posts, Julia Baugher asked "readers" to help her pick a pair of shoes for some sort of Zappos/SXSW thing. Probably a few people emailed her but I think she makes up the bulk of her reader emails and story sources. She was recently called out on it for a TONY article - seems like she posted some "reader" emails on her blog but forgot to change the time stamp and subject line on the emails. In addition to being a lazy writer, she's also a lazy journalist when it comes to getting sources or feedback from any project she's working on. Anything she works on - whether it's a TONY piece or TMI show - she lazily begs for ideas and quotes on her blog.

  35. Nothing wrong with cruising some shoe porn at 11:29PM on a Tuesday. I have been guilty of the same. Just be honest that you went on Zappos, sorted by heel height, and posted the pics yourself.

  37. Ok, can we make a new rule for RBNS? Posts get REBLOGGED. I don't want to read this shit in the comments and then give them pageviews because I want to know what y'all are talking about.

Also. Julia needs to stop trying to be funny. STAT.COM. She. Is. Not. Funny. Hey Jules, if you are going to be the you-iest you there ever was, then stop trying to be funny. Comedy is not your forte. Did you guys see her video from Chelsea Handler? Someone was trying a lit-tle too hard.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anon 10:15 - most of Julia's content is not worth reblogging. The most recent stuff was endless pictures of shoes. If you don't want to visit her incredibly painful blog, you can look at the same posts in facebook -

    http://www.facebook.com/notes.php?id=8656939666

It stays pretty up to date with the NS blog (although the shoe posts haven't gone up yet) and is 1000X easier to read.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anon: We have full-time jobs. But even if we didn't, we would not reblog every useless post or photo that these women post to their blogs. Sorry, but we just don't have the time or resources, and we wish everyone would keep that in mind when ordering us to do new posts. I work 60 hours a week -- this is something I squeeze in on coffee breaks. RBNS is in the same boat, and RussianGirl has lots of milking to do.

And does anyone really need to see dozens of pictures of slutty shoes? Because that's all that's there.

The commentary consists of: "Oooh! I like this!" "Oh, not sure about the heel on these."

Uhhhh ... no. Sorry. We'll pick and choose our spots.

  42. Julia = Veruca SaltMarch 11, 2009 at 10:29 AM

ZZZZZZ. More of Jackles posting things she WANTS WANTS WANTS. Memo to Veruca Salt - EVERYONE looks at things they want to buy on the internet. EVERYONE wants things they can't have. Why does she think every little thing she does is so AWESOME and BLOGGABLE and FUNNY and FABULOUS?!?! Oh right... because she's a preening narcissist with horrible impulse control who can't keep a single thought to herself.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hell.com is a private parallel web, which is definitely not something JA wants to catch.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Still chortling over the Sarah Lacy = laptop of Silicon Valley typo from last night. Classic! From now on, that is who Sarah is to me.

  45. Pretty funny that the myriad "reader emails" Julia received regarding shoe recommendations are all from ZAPPOS.com. Gee, ALL your readers went straight to ZAPPOS to send their recommendations to you? You'd think with so many submissions, at least a few would've gone to different sources.

Seems like Julia herself was browsing Zappos and decided to conveniently make up recommendations from readers.

    ReplyDelete
  46. She said she had a gift certificate to Zappos, so they had to be from there.

    ReplyDelete
  47. But really... HOW MANY of her readers would take the effort and energy to browse through thousands of shoes and pick ones that are SO Julia and send the pictures/links to her? You can visit any pageview/ranking site and see that her page views and readership is tanking. Curious that all these reader emails show up right before a SXSW/Zappos "challenge" when she posted the call for suggestions on March 7 and mentioned nothing about the SXSW aspect the first time - or has ever posted about it or mentioned it since.

    Here's what Julia says:

"Last minute scramble to get that $100 Zappos item for the SXSW “Unboxing Challenge!” You guys sent in such great ideas, I wanted to buy them all!!"

Her posts also all have links to Zappos* in them. My guess is that she has some sort of Zappos agreement, failed to mention it and is scrambling at the last minute to provide the coverage she agreed to, all while cloaking it in her usual lies about reader interaction.

    1. She sucks at promoting anything she agrees to promote
    2. Why lie about reader emails and reader interaction? Are you trying to prove you have readers?

    * This coverage of failed internet sponsorship agreements is brought to you by Zappos.
