The Girls: Happier Times

41 comments:

  1. <3 you, Jacy! Maybe there are others like me who had never seen it. And the valleywag article about it doesn't parse it near as much as it should. IN THIS VIDEO THE GIRLS CLAIM TO HAVE INVENTED PUTTING VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET. I mean, COME ON.

  2. that is the video that got her in trouble with Cisco..

It seems the network stuff was not Cisco..whoops..

  3. And Jackles braying about how TV is dead! And now she's soon to be on TV in the backs of grimy taxi cabs. Oh sweet.

  4. But the airkissing was so much more affectionate back then.
Nonetheless, I like valleywag's fitting descripton of Meghan as "a glossy surface hiding technical ineptitude".

  5. I remember Gawker noticing that Meghan wasn't even using cisco technology-that she had a wifi hook up (excuse me, remember I am liberal arts girls and am illerate in science/technology) visible in the video that was cisco.

  6. *that wasn't cisco.

    Excuse me.

  7. What's remarkable in this video, is seeing how they really felt like they were on top of the world. It was the beginning of SOMETHING REALLY BIG. They had confidence in their project. Remember, this was taped prior to last summer, and prior to the NS site.

  8. And they've come a looong way in just a few months...

  9. "One of the best things about this new technology is the fact that we CAN interact with our audience."

HA HA HA HA HA HA. NO. YOU DON'T.

"It's such a new form of communication... We are at the forefront of it."

UM NO. IT'S NOT. AND NO. YOU ARE NOT.

That video actually made them look sort of fresh and promising. And just reminds us all of how much they've fallen in a year. No business. No longer best friends. No more movie premieres and fabulous parties. No reality show. Now it's just NonExistent content, creepy D list celebrity stalking and video segments in the back of cabs. Julia peaked with her Wired cover and it has been a rapid downhill slide ever since.

  10. Meghan is such a twat. She's mentioned several times that she does not receive financial help or connections from her parents. Meghan, how the fuck do you have an awesome loft, plus Design Within Reach furniture including a the Womb Chair with ottoman, which runs $7,000? http://www.dwr.com/product/furniture/living/chairs-recliners/womb-chair-volo-leather.do?sortby=ourPicks

  11. In other news:

Julia just lied about reviewing tutus on Lunch.com.

She claims she "just" did this, but she actually reviewed these petticoats (not tutus) on March 31st.

    WHY LIE?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Maybe Meghan is secretly a callgirl, Dahling? Maybe she's a part of some secret underground gambling circuit and has won some impressive earnings?? Maybe her stocks have been extremely successful before now???

Even a typical hedge-funder like she once was can't afford a pricey joint in Manhattan like hers. If she didn't want to admit to being an adult trust-funder, she shouldn't go around lying about it and swearing she doesn't live off her parents.

  13. Anonymous 11:12 - if she told the truth about the fact that the review's been up for a week and only one person has commented, that wouldn't exactly gel with her self-imposed "people really care what I think and that's why I'm an internet revolutionary" persona.

It must be exhausting being her and thinking through all of her posts to make sure they conform to the same image.

  14. Julia Allison calls Lunch.com her "new crush of a website" and has been pimping it like crazy. I am sure this has NOTHING to do with it's cute CEO...
    http://twitter.com/jrjjrj

NASCAR has "pit lizards," pro baseball has "cleat chasers," bankers have "DABAs" and tech geeks have "celebechauns with a founder fetish" (coined by JA ex Charles Forman) of which Julia Allison is the head cheerleader.

Keep chasing that cash, honey. No ever said you weren't persistent in your stalking.

  15. Oops, that's "Celebrechaun." And now I can't get images of the old Leprechaun movies out of my head...

Exactly! And they have like 15 "fans" on the NS facebook page.

  17. Meghan posted a really funny reply to one of my posts on Tumblr basically thanking Daddy Parikh for the Cisco connection, take a look:

  19. Meghan Asha Parikh's (old) response to the haters basically confirms what an idiot she is. More "Oooh, I am SO SORRY you are so sad and depressed that you have to say meanie poo things about me and my family, even though I live my life publicly on the internet and want to build a business around it. Please stop perpetuating negativity in my happy internet sandbox. Take your mean toys and go home. WAAAAH!"

Meghan Asha Parikh: "Ha! My father hasn’t helped me in years, you know nothing about my family dynamic, so your speculation is completely off base."

Just a few lines later: "There’s something TERRIBLY wrong with a person’s mental state to anonymously spew untrue, hurtful, and angry comments across the web. Were you rebloggers beaten as children?"

What was that you were saying about off base speculation, Meghan Asha Parikh? And then you make the same off base speculation about strangers a few lines later? IDIOT.

  20. She's still new to the internet, guys. She doesn't understand that it's full of normal people yet.

  23. What happened to her speaking gig at MIT?

    ReplyDelete
  24. 12:27

She rescheduled the speaking gig for April, per her announcement. Her boston-based friend was going to be out of town so it wasn't worth the trip to her. She called MIT and they rescheduled for April.

That's her story. Meanwhile, I haven't hear a peep about the supposed MIT talk and isn't so unprofessional to make a University commitment and then ask for a rescheduling? She behaves towards academic institutions like she does to her dates. SICK WOMAN.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Her Boston friend doesn't want to be another one free lodging on the Julia Allison Road to Fame tour. Be honest. How many times have you told a couch moocher you'll be "out of town" when they ask to come crash at your place (and expect to be taken out to meals, entertained, intro'd to your single friends, etc, etc, etc. Yeah, I have a friend like Julia.)

Here is my honest and earnest review of NonSociety on Lunch. I am not sure that you will be able to click and view. Let me know.

  27. This video is a representation of the ideal NS of course. The fantasy NS - the one they wish everyone would be buy. A commercial for NS. So in that sense it is as important as it is hilarious - in that it represents perfectly what is so unintentionally true not only about NS but about our larger culture in general.

All wired up with the latest gear, everything covered - blogged, twittered, videotaped, photographed - within an inch of its life - but at its core covering ... what ... exactly? The content? Some kind of combination of total bullshit, ridiculous, harrowing psychological denial and icing sugar - way past its best-before date.

And what's amazing about NS is their seeming complete desperation in keeping this whole beast afloat.

As someone above commented they seem unable to accept the fact that their allure lies in the 'negative attention' they receive, much less how to monetize it. People don't believe in them or what they are selling - they just love mocking them. But I guess in order for that dynamic to work they need to keep up appearances. So, jokes on us I guess.

I really don't understand these 'Conferences" they go to. Somebody pays for this? And they go and speak about ... what? I really don't understand. I thought the 'tech bubble' burst like nine years ago.

  28. She'll be in Boston from the 24th-27th of April, allegedly speaking at MIT. I can't decide if I want to go to see the flaming train wreck, or stay as far away as possible, lest my eardrums explode from all the braying.

    ReplyDelete
  29. She's going home next week to Chicago and then to a tech conference in SF, per her latest blog. I guess she canceled, after postponing, the MIT gig. Or they smartened up and cancelled on her.

    ReplyDelete
  30. TJ: As someone who's worked in academic administration for almost ten years, currently at an Ivy League institution, I can safely deduce that this MIT gig is nothing of consequence. Heavy duty talks given by "important" people are scheduled WAY in advance and do not get rescheduled. This is probably an unpaid talk similar to the Parson's one (informally visiting a class), which is certainly nothing to brag about.

  31. 1:11

I worked myself through college and grad school working at the New School and NYU, so I completely agree with what you're saying. It was probably a lie, or simply a plan to do something that was in talks but never realized...Still, she just goes on unacknowledging after talking twice about the MIT speaking gig. LIES. Similar to her non acknowledgement of Mary's departure on cardboard lifebox situation.

  32. Everyone must go to lunch.com and review NonSociety!! Good work by Gwyneth.
It will probably dissapear any minute now, when Julia the Village Idiot starts whining to her TwitterCrush to remove the vile spewed by haters of the Pink Castle

  33. What happened to "AXE" anyway? I thought they were 'sponsored' by "AXE"? Just a one time deal - lasting like a week? I can't stand that company, especially their commercials.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I will leave a NS review on lunch.com shortly. OH NO... an excess of opinion! Shut it down!!

I encourage everyone to share their "excess of opinion" on TMI weekly as well.

I hope they will not take my review down. I really think it was fair, and I did not stoop to personal remarks or attacks; I kept it to an honest review of the content. I suggest you guys do the same if you decide to review it. Posting personal attacks is asking for the review to be removed.

Say what you think about the content or the ladies' on-camera presence, leave off what you think of them personally, you know?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree Gwyneth. Review them for their utter lack of content or creativity/perpetuating dated stereotypes/lack of innovation, etc. Save the crazy personal stuff for over here!

  38. Can you please copy and paste your lunch comments?

  39. This movie makes NS look so cool. Why didn't they start the business in this movie?

  41. @ Anon 1:11 PM

I work in PR at an academic institution, and people--important powerful people--reschedule on us probably 2-3 times/year, and it happens even more frequently with less powerful people (like JA).

usually it's because things come up at work or planes are rerouted. we just reschedule. we don't pay for these types of speaking gigs at my institution, so we roll with the changes b/c they're doing us a favor anyway.
