Tweets of Greatness

Jackles promising another "prize:"

juliaallison: I've decided my new codename is "1459." I will send a prize to whomever figures out & tweets what that means. hahahah

The replies:

rachaelosborn: @juliaallison Your 15 minutes are almost up! Where's my prize

molls: @juliaallison It was the name of a Sugar Ray album. It means you're on your last second of your 15 minutes of fame. Hey, 1997.

kjeaddy: @juliaallison 1459 is having only 1 second left until your fame is up

mikedizon: @juliaallison 1459 = I Love Julia Allisonnn ??!

bewuethr: @juliaallison - something with 15 minutes of fame?

Oh Jackles. Just like LIU -- Long Island University -- another oh-so-clever yay.com idea backfires.

  2. Crickets over here.

I think it's more interesting to note that she admitted last night that she only follows 3 people (!!) on her tumblr -- the one she is using to building a business and networking brand. So cluelessly self-important. I am betting the three are Mary, Meghan and probably Georgina.

I know Karp's a friend (insert snark), but the reality is that she really is never going to go anywhere with Nonsociety unless she thinks of switching to Wordpress and starting over there, or even going back to updating her .com site. Her twitter has only 10,000 followers (by comparision, her FB fan page has 17,000). And I just don't see any possible way she can try to win over her audience at tumblr where she is now. That's why I don't understand why meghan continues -- every mention is negative. The tumblr community hates her.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I would think tumblr kids hate her for holding Karp's nuts in her purse and making him delete anything that hurts her wittle feewings.

  4. Interesting that Julia has 17,000 fans on Facebook. About a week ago - before her "scheming" with Randi and Dave at the FB offices - she had about 500. Something sketchy is happening there.

    ReplyDelete
  5. anon 1020.

that's really interesting if it's true. Is that right? 500 to 17,000, in a week?

  6. If these figures are correct, I smell a big FB rat.

She opened up her privacy settings after the meeting at facebook. People who previously didn't want to befriend her, now have, etc. But I also smell a HUGE facebook rat.

But who really cares? What if FB gave Jules a free banner ad? Sure TONS of people would look at her site for the length of the banner being up but I don't think she'd hold onto any fans, or readers. Nocontentsociety is the problem. No fucking content! In fact, I bet RBNS would get a lot of new traffic.

Jules should stop planning stunts and start providing content.

  9. Remember Julia's last TONY article, scheduled for April? April is coming to a close... looks like it's not happening. I guess she can officially no longer call herself a dating columnist.

    24 Dates in 24 Hours
Remember that Time Out New York piece I was meant to do - but didn’t have time in between Vegas & Munich/Davos? I’m still doing it, but it’s rescheduled for April.
    Stay single until then, fellas.
And if anyone has suggestions on where I should have these 24 dates (in a diner?? a bar? multiple places?) please email me! Julia@NonSociety.com

  10. 10.27: Right now it states

    Julia Allison
    Type: Other Public Figure
Size: 17,186 fans oops, 17,185 according to the latest count.

Would that not have to be reflected by NS pageviews? Something's not right.

The TMI Weekly facebook page only has 99 fans -

Something is definitely not adding up.

    ReplyDelete
  12. So she's boosting HER numbers, not NS's or TMI weakly's.
Pure speculation, but isn't that something someone would do who's trying to land a solo gig? I'm not saying that's what's going on, I'm just thinking aloud and since I'm thankfully nowhere near insider information, but if I were, that would be something I'd want to look into.

    ReplyDelete
  13. "Something is definitely not adding up."

That could be the epitaph for NonSociety and its illustrious founder, Julia Cupcakes Allison.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Right now there are rumors she will be writing for CollegeCandy.com according to twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  15. ^^^^
Before you correct me, I know it's supposed to be weekly.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Are you able to see who is signed up as Julia Allison fans?

    ReplyDelete
  17. "TMI Weakly." Soon to join "liecast" in the pantheon of RBNS buzz phrases. Tip o' the tutu to you.

    ReplyDelete
  18. CollegeCandy.com would be so perfect for Little Miss Hoya Julia Allison, who just can't leggo of that whole glorious college experience she still must yammer about at every turn.

    ReplyDelete
  19. So Julia and ex-intern Charlsie, who actually still is in college, might be writing for the same thing? That would make my black sould chuckle.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Julia's old intern Charlsie also wrote for College Candy. No offense to Charlsie, but it's not exactly the most prestigious writing gig. Big step down from TONY, which is saying something.

  22. Julia's only hope is a solo gig with some insipid network or website that will capitalize on her low rent ways of seduction and lack of quality content.

Megs is planning a "conference" and "skincare line"...

I'm thinking they want out of Nonsociety but are too proud to let it fold. They'll go off and do solo shit; add 1 line capitions to photos and links on their lifestreams...and sail off into the sunset.

    ReplyDelete
  23. TJ, agreed. NonContent will die a slow pitiful death, not with a bang but a whimper. Eventually some lame post about how it TOTALLY accomplished what she wanted - revolutionizing blogging/pic posting/online video, how it was the first thing ever of its kind, thanks to all (8) of our fans etc etc etc until we are all dizzy with the spin.

    ReplyDelete
  24. re: collegecandy Wow, talk about taking a major step backwards in your career, Julia. But you already know that. She must have really burned her bridges at New York Mag/Cosmo/Mediabistro to be going back to the college beat.

Can't imagine how she got the 17,000 fans. I think the only reason her star rose so quickly is that she was of interest to a small but influential group of media/politic/tech people. What a fucking joke.

    ReplyDelete
  25. partypants: Come on, that College Candy thing was a joke, right?

  27. I am not sure how someone who is six years removed from college life can really have a "voice" for college candy. Just another attempt for Julia to eek out relevance in a place where she has none. Too bad there's not a bloatedhasbeens.com to write for.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Siiigh. Julia has "Amazing Grace" on her site for the lunch.com founder, apparently dead in a car accident.

Julia Baugher, folks. Doing the charelston on famous graves since 2002.

    ReplyDelete
  29. there was an article, which came out after FB began putting out a suggested users feature like twitter and julia was one of the poeple on it, saying that her fans on FB skyrocketed over night. That was a week or two before the "scheming" was mentiond. I think the article was linked to somewhere in the comments on this site but I'm not sure.

    ReplyDelete
  30. here ya go, julia's FB fans stats
    http://www.allfacebook.com/statistics/pages/julia-allison/8656939666/
nothing strange about it since the stats for anyone on that suggested users list look the same as julia's with a huge spike on around april 6.

the article about the new feature

  32. I logged on my facebook yesterday and I was suddenly a "fan" of Julia... 2 days before I had only been a fan of 2 nonprofits, I shit you not.

    ReplyDelete
  33. it was indeed gauche of her to post about it, but at least get your facts straight. also, when she originally posted about it she included the email from the founder. now (at his request, no doubt) it has been removed.

    ReplyDelete
  34. sorry, she didn't remove it, she just moved it to another post. probably due to formatting concerns.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well pardon fucking me for trying to work AND keep up on the blogvomit of Julia. I'll be sure to quit my job so as to devote myself to fact checking the honest, forthright, and transparent posts of corndogsandtatertots.com in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I see we have a insider providing information regarding the sudden spike in stats. Except, I'm afraid that her sudden jump did not just happen when she was recommended via some facebook initiative.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What is up with the constant promotion of JA via her "strategic relationships" with Randi Zuckerberg and David Karp?

Are those two saps really just total geeks who are somehow entangled in Julia's web of deception and lies that she's far more important/influential than she really is?? Do they have any idea what a total and complete JOKE she is and how much dumber they look helping to promote her pointless pageviews???!

    ReplyDelete
  38. The NS facebook page had exactly 50 fans as recently as last night.

    ReplyDelete
  39. TotalJing
I'm not an insider. the info was posted online. If you look at other recommended users their stats went up at the same date, around april 6 or so. It was reported online not too many days after.

besides regardless of when it was started you will see that same spike with other users. i happened to see sarah lacy's stats since that was where a link from a blog post took me first and hers looks the exact same as julia's with a big spike around that same date. whatever the cause is it's not unique to julia.

however if you think the suggested user feature is not the cause, then when do you think that feature was put in place if not around april 6-10, which is the same dates when her stats went form insignificant to in the many thousands practically overnight

    ReplyDelete
  40. 50 fans or 17,000 online "fans" = Julia Allison is still a nobody.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @12:38

There was a no doubt a jump after she was made a feature user (for what reason, I don't know, other than her strategic friendships)...However, there was an additional spike very recently, wasn't there?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Roughly 4,000 fan spike between 21st and 22nd. That's just ODD. She leveledd off on the 13th from the "featured user" promotion" and did gain most prior. So, I'm still curious how soemone gains 3,000-4,000 fans overnight.
    http://www.allfacebook.com/statistics/pages/julia-allison/8656939666/

    ReplyDelete
  43. Here the deal:
    14389 on 4/21 17236 on the 4/22

So a little over 2,000 fans the day after she visited Randi are gained. Which is rather crazy and wild and impossible, given her history.

For the week prior, her fans leveled off at the 14000 (that post Randi pimping her as featured).

Prior to be featured she had around 3,000 fans.

    ReplyDelete
  44. No wait, prior to being featured by Randi, she had 400 fans. Up to 14,000 with being featured. It leveled off for 1.5 weeks and spiked OVERNIGHT post FB visit.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Think about this CollegeCandy lower than where she intern at ..ie Mashable :)

    Hahahah epic fail!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I just think it's weird with all the people she knows, she can't get a more lucrative and/or higher profile gig.

She is no longer any of those things?!

    ReplyDelete
  48. some of her 'fans' work at Mashable..I do not think Mashable would hire her now :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I agree, Party Pants. I think it's very wierd too. Remember her work ethic while an intern? There wasn't any. In fact, she hired her own intern to do all her work. And her writing? She's well known for frequently handing in work to her editors that is THOUSANDS of words over her limit. We all know how much editors just love that behavior. She's a liability and doesn't even have B list celebrity cred to bring to the table.

Her biggest mistake ever was doing the nonsociety bullshit. She should have trotted her tits into Fox "News" and gotten herself a late, late night celebrity gossip gig or something.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  52. Color me crazy but gimmick driven notoriety cannot be gratifying. Phony stats, phony fans, phony friends, and a phony resume cannot make one feel accomplished. Sure, you can fool some people for awhile but eventually you need to deliver the goods and there just isn't any there. WIRED said a mouthful when they wrote any nobody could gain internet fame.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Amen to that TJ; didn't she lose her Star gig because her boss found her online presence so distracting and unprofessional?
Then she had the nerve to constantly whine/complain about that job, the job that paid her six figures and actually got her name on the map of media.
She acted ungrateful for it, as though she was somehow above getting paid six figures to show up on a TV set and blather on about celebrity gossip and other stupid pop culture drivel.

Typically though, most folks would tone it down after being fired and learn to present themselves far better after losing their job thanks to embarrassing internet behavior like that, but not our Julia! Her online behavior has only grown worse since then. What a brige-burner she is. I can't fathom what kinda of halfway decent media career she can get now.

  55. Its before Ja sunk her teeth into Meghanaise obviously..fall 2007 I believe..

    ReplyDelete
  56. This video made me laugh. Especially the part where the first thing that comes to Julia's mind when she thinks of meeting up with a fan of hers is "I'll take a picture with you" and then the next thing she thinks of is "or you know, a video."

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/smorty71/3360313255/

    ReplyDelete
  57. Latest Meghanaise post topped off with a "Sheesh!" and riddled with the same slightly offputting malapropisms and misappropriated idioms as always... why she is still attempting to promote herself in a written medium is beyond me, as her writing is genuinely abysmal. Unless you love vague generalizations, constant use of words that are almost the correct one for the situation, and 'frequent and unnecessary' use of 'quotation marks' that read as 'air quotes.'

    VERY NICE!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anon, everytime you say VERY NICE! I imagine you saying it in a scrunch faced Meghan voice - and now, I see you doing it with air quotes.

  70. OMFG! I just checked my Facebook out of curiosity and she is on my F*#&ing page!! WTF is going on. I am not kidding. I never add anything to my page besides REAL Friends. I am not a fan of anything and I do not give drinks or play games on it.

  75. ok, before you remove yourself as a fan, leave a comment on the page saying that you disagree with being automatically added as one of her pans.

    ReplyDelete
  76. You have no friends named "julia allison".

    THANK GOD

    ReplyDelete
  77. PP, go under your info on facebook and look at the pages section. you might have to expand it to see everyone that you're a fan of. julia won't be listed as a friend, she'll be listed under your fan pages.

    ReplyDelete
  78. She's not on my page. Happy to be excluded.

    ReplyDelete
  79. its not under friends, its under "fans of". On your info page, scroll down to the bottom. there are icons.

And... I couldnt write anything mean publicly...bc I know her.

    ReplyDelete
  80. 4:05, I didn't write anything mean, i just said i don't think it's right that i was automatically added as a fan without my consent. that's all.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Franseca...that wasnt very smart of you.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Whatever, I called her a vile choad. This is spamming, and it's beneath contempt.

    ReplyDelete
  83. How is that even possible? I think having no fan pages at all is a clear advantage in this case. Good I don't care about anything.

    ReplyDelete
  84. F it. I'm not removing her. I'm just going to message spam the hell out of her.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I tipped gawker. try to compare it to the tumblr Night of the Long Knives a few weeks ago...

    ReplyDelete
  86. Chescaleigh,
I should have added as far as fb is concerned. I care about a lot of things, but I don't like facebook to use this to profile me and provide me with carefully selected ads.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I WAS ADDED, TOO! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Oh, I hope they ignore this. No publicity for this attention whore.

    ReplyDelete
  89. those who wee added om FB were you at any time viewing JA's FB pic stream?

    ReplyDelete
  90. 4:23, haaa! thanks for clarifying. I was confused. Yeah, i'm really disappointed that FB would do something like that. i mean, what good does it do to have a bunch of random "fans" that don't even like you or know who you are?

    ReplyDelete
  91. 4:05 I know her in real life too, and I'm afraid I can't un-add her page without her noticing! This is ridiculous. I can't believe we all got spammed.

    ReplyDelete
  92. This is crazy. Are you guys sure about this? You didn't just maybe press the fan button while scanning her page? Spamming people to become FB fans - that seems like a whole new level of absurdity. WTF

    ReplyDelete
  93. This is why I don't use FB. My guess is that simply visiting the NS fan page or maybe even NS itself while logged into FB was the trigger for the automatic "fan of" designation. This is just another example of FB's shitastic ways. FB is basically the Windows of social networking and it needs to wither away ASAP before it's too late.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Did someone complain to facebook about this? This must be a violation of their terms of use - even IF they did it themselves. Make a fuss. I would.

    ReplyDelete
  95. 4:31, I've only looked at one of the photos on her page, but i've never actually looked at her fan page. and I wouldn't "accidentally" press the join as a fan button. my best guess is that as 4:32 suggested, FB automatically added us because we looked at her photos. but that still doesn't add up, because i've looked at photos on other fan pages and wasn't added...this is really strange.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I've viewed the NS fan page and Julia's photos on Facebook and she wasn't added to my account, THANK GOD.

    How weird and completely mental.

    ReplyDelete

  101. trust me, I havent looked at her fbook page in a long time, so that couldnt be it...

and anon 4:31...I did it anyways- I figured she won't notice. we aren't best friends.

    ReplyDelete
  102. i viewed her recently unlocked FB page and the photos associated with the page, but she has thankfully not been added to the pages of which i am a fan. i bet it's more of a random selection of people who were added as her fans, something which FB could later dismiss as a glitch to cover its ass. i guess this is what they were scheming about? lol.

    ReplyDelete
  103. we need to make no mistake about it: This is deliberate and facebook basically makes it so you cant contact them and complain.

    Randi Z: Fuck You.

    ReplyDelete
  104. The only thing I can think of is that maybe she somehow used her email contacts to import the email addresses of everybody who's ever emailed her, and we got added that way?

This is a mistake, big time. Try Valleywag if you don't get a response from Gawker.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Well, Julia Allison SAID she and Randi Zuckerberg, Dave Morin and Meghan Asha Parikh were "scheming" in the Facebook lunchroom. Now we know she meant the verb to be taken literally.

My FB account is clean so far, BTW. My sympathies to the spammed.

    ReplyDelete
  106. 4;47 that's a really good point.

She would probably have to do that from the Facebook headquarters.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I am also now a FB "fan" of Julia. WTF?

    ReplyDelete
  108. I think that there is a news story here. You have at least 5 technologically literate users of Facebook that have been made "fans of" Julia Allison through no known action on their part. That is just strange and either speaks to FB's shadiness or FB's incompetence in designing usable software. Either way, it's a story.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Owen "that little cunt/dick" Thomas is on it!

    ReplyDelete
  113. My reading on FB indicates that a message should go into your feed when you become a "fan of" something. Does anyone see that sort of message in their feed and, if so, what is the date of that message?

    ReplyDelete
  114. people who sent friend requests to julia allison in the past have been turned into "fans." yes, this is firsthand information. it's a feature they're implementing with all profiles soon enough. each user will be able to have "friends" and "fans."

    ReplyDelete
  115. now this is stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Well, BS that julia had over 17,000 people request to be her friend.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Ya, BS that almost every hater with a FB page is now her fan (or ever sent her a friend request).

    ReplyDelete
  118. That is so creepy about the fake facebook fans, facebook isn't a shining beacon of trustworthiness.

It's sickening that she's in bed with tumblr and facebook. I got rid of my tumblr account when they decided to censor people who rightfully criticised this idiot julia baugher and I'm closing my facebook account as of today.

    Not cool.

  122. An aside, but I saw earlier that folks were theorizing that she had boob surgery. Look at the other pics from that night; there's no scar. Upon closer inspection of the photo in question, the "scar" is just from a string of hair.

  124. JA just sent me a fb email. Apparently any pending friends requests were approved as fans. Honestly, I don't remember requesting her but if I did, it was a really long time ago. I removed myself as a fan, so I'm done.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Interesting. Wow. From what I remember I befriended her to see what was in her profile. I was made a friend and saw all the pictures long ago. Now, I'm not a friend. Wierdola. She deleted me. Thanks for the clarification, Chescaleigh.

  126. What a rotten surprise, I tried "Friending her" when I first found out about Julia (looooong time ago) and now I'm a "fan" ... no thanks..

" Hi All, We switched everyone who had done a friend request for me who I didn't know and approved them for my public page instead. If you didn't do a friend request, you couldn't have been added. So everyone who was a "fan" first requested me as a friend. Pretty straightforward ... You can always un-fan me. Have a great day!

  131. trollio,

Nope, that was a pretty shitty disclosure by FuckBook. That company is a piece-of-shit and it deserves all the negative press it gets. Hopefully it runs out of cash soon since it has no ethics and routinely does behind the scenes shit to boost its sycophants.

P.S. Shame on all of you for friending her in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Let's spell this out:

Julia went to facebook. Between her visit to facebook until today, there were 3,000 fans added. I can't change my friend requests to fans. Anyone can set up a fan page. Try it. Can you change your friends to fans? Um, nope. She had help. That's the old "scheming."

Before, Randi helped her by making her a "friend suggestion" in the newsletter, Jules had 438 friends.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Well, I've said this before but I used to like julia and i wanted to like NS. But that was long before I knew anything about her and NS hadn't really gotten off the ground. I'm also "friends" with people on facebook that I don't really like or know. It's usually just to be nosey/network. But you being here and ragging on us doesn't make u much better.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I friended her and was approved. I did it to be nosy. I have no shame about it.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Julia just posted this on her fan page:

Hi All, We switched everyone who had done a friend request for me who I didn't know and approved them for my public page instead. If you didn't do a friend request, you couldn't have been added. What a fucking cunt. Have a great day, Julia! You are despicable.

  136. So what, TJ? I guess I'm missing why this is such a disaster of epic proportions. It's just facebook.

    ReplyDelete
  137. It's just a another fucking lie on her part. Another fuck sham trick. Is it EPIC? Um no. Will it change my life? I could care less. I just think it's hilarious/cunty/anti social and, oh, so typical of Ms. Julia Allison

    ReplyDelete
  138. Power Point presentation for MIT non-speech will show facebook fan tally, count on it.

  139. "If you become the ‘Fan’ of a product that has Facebook profile, then that product can insert your name and profile directly into their pitches."

    http://windchimesindia.wordpress.com/2008/11/04/facebookfan/

So, this means that TJ, chescaleigh, et al. were basically pitchwomen for NS. Their friends probably saw ads in which they endorsed the NS brand. That's just sad.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Yeah, it's just facebook and it's not a big deal. The bigger deal is that Julia is a shady, scheming cunt who has to artificially force people to be her "fan" online because she's so hated/unknown in real life -- it's pathetic on 10 different levels. THAT is what people are complaining about.

    ReplyDelete
  141. BB,

I would say it's a big deal. Facebook basically reclassified all friend requests as fan requests for a single fameball. Furthermore, the semantics and ramifications of being a fan are much different than being a friend. That is, they took an non-commercial opt-in and converted it into a commercial opt-in. Very shady, someone should really contact the Better Business Bureau.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Like Total Jing, I friend requested her eons ago just to be nosy and look at her photos etc. Was never approved tho but am now her "fan", dumbass way to build an online reputation Toolia.

    ReplyDelete
  143. So to summarize.... Julia's "scheming" move to get more "fans" completely backfired and now people are just pissed that she was made a fan without their asking. YAY.COM! Way to get more people to hate you Julia. Just like her speaking engagements, I welcome this new opportunity for her to prove what a dumbass she is in front of a large audience. Keep digging that failure hole deeper, hon.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Thanks all. I was beginning to think that I was crazy but I do think this is shady on 10 different levels. Most certainly, because a separate request must be made to become a fan and that it's not a normal function for people to be able to turn friend requests into fans. Meaning, the Facebook people engineered this for Yoolio.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Well, it looks like Randi is going to be enjoying some cupcakes for extending the long tail of JA's 15 minutes of fame...

"Anyone know of a great cupcake place near Cupertino? Or one in SF which delivers? @JuliaAllison me!
about 1 hour ago from web"

    ReplyDelete
  146. Personally, I cannot understand why anyone wouldn't understand how shady and lame this is. I've been on Facebook for years and am scratching my head at them trying to become so commercial. It's my personal space, my personal profile, my photos, my info, my scrapbook. What the hell is up with them thinking they can fuck around with our shit?

(I wasn't made a fan, but can clearly see how fucked up this is.)

    ReplyDelete
  147. I don't know anything about this from my own experience but just based on what's being said here I'd say actually Julia it isn't "straightforward" at all. If FB didn't give notice of this ahead of time, then it's shady and done behind the scenes with no upfront disclosure, right in line with the same approach NS seems to take regularly.

How hard would it be to be transparent and clear about things instead of just doing them silently behind the scenes with no disclosure then speaking up only once there are complaints? If FB did alert people then great. But if they didn't, there's no excuse for why they couldn't have just posted an explanation that friend requests now could be automatically turned into fan requests by the people receiving the requests. That way people could be aware of it and cancel it if they wanted.

I don't care how innocuous it may seem to some people, if FB messes with someone's profile they need to alert that person first. Your name is on your profile and it reflects you. People who may have friended her might not have wanted to be listed as a fan. Just because it may not be of major consequence doesn't mean that it's okay if FB did it without users knowledge or permission. If only certain people are able to turn friends into fans I think it makes it even more shady.

When people complain about anything related to Julia her response is almost always "Don't take it so seriously, no big deal." Of course it's no big deal - to her. She's the one doing it to other people. She whines about anything and everything that she thinks is unfair to her, even though usually it's nothing, but when she does something shady to other people, it's always, "don't take it so seriously, lighten up." I guess there might be more to come too since I think they said the other day that hey were scheming about Nonsociety's page with Randi, didn't they? I hope Valleywag/Gawer will cover this. Speaking of fans, I'm becoming less and less one of FB every day.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Maybe we could start a fan countdown.
    Currently: 17,032 fans

    ReplyDelete
  149. I have a better idea, someone start a facebook page that is for people who are NOT fans of Julia.
I would become a fan of that, and maybe we can exceed the fans of Julia page!

    ReplyDelete
  150. You know, of just about all her stunts, this one pisses me off the most. Facebook's Terms of Use state that:

"YOU SHOULD BE CAREFUL BEFORE PROVIDING ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO OR ENTERING INTO ANY TRANSACTION IN CONNECTION WITH A FACEBOOK PAGE."

So, since all these individuals were basically forced into a transaction in connection with the "Julia Allison Facebook Page" and not the "Julia Allison Facebook Profile", Facebook pretty much denied its users the ability to abide by Facebook's own Terms of Use! I mean, when did TJ have the opportunity to consider engaging in a transaction with the "Julia Allison Facebook Page"? Answer: never!

    ReplyDelete
  151. Julia's shady approach to everything - first tumblr and now Facebook - is totally her MO. Her sketchy, low down behavior gets her attention - plain and simple. If Gawker picks up on it = attention. Julia Allison Baugher doesn't care if she's being called a scheming, fat, lazy cunt. In her twisted narcissistic world, any attention is good attention. It's a sickness and we just get to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Someone needs to send this to tips@techcrunch.com. They will nail FB to the wall.

    ReplyDelete
  153. James, I can see how that might be true about Julia but why do these companies go along with it or are they of the any attention is good attention school too? It's weird.

    ReplyDelete
  154. You know what... I sort of hope no one picks up on it. This stench has the smell of a publicity stunt. The more attention Julia gets, the more she finds fleeting validation, no matter how negative or damaging. The faster she fades into chubby, manic obscurity the faster we've "won" ... whatever that means.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Bingo, Kes. If we stop feeding it publicly, that is beyond this entertaining little circle, maybe it will go away eventually.

  165. currently 17,0005 fans.

    ReplyDelete
  166. I really don't see the big deal here. You friend requested someone you don't even like (weird enough) and instead of being made a "friend" you're made "a fan." Big deal. What has you so pissed? That you won't have level 4 stalker access to her Facebook profile?

Take the drama down a notch, kids. This really isn't that big of a deal. It's kind of what you7 get for disingenuously friending her in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I think one of the issues is that this included people who had friended her a LONG time ago, including -- if I'm understanding this correctly -- even before NonSociety started.

Since then, there has been a mass exodus of fans, and a lot of the people who originally liked her now feel differently. I'd be interested to know how many of those requests occurred since the beginning of 2009 instead of the beginning of time.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Just went to unfan myself from her FB fan page and found there a lot of unhappy campers:

  170. I love the "Who the fuck are you" from the cell phone. HYSTERICAL. Kinda sad that she didn't sort through her requests and sift out the people who knew her and were real friends, not fans.

    ReplyDelete
  171. This is on her FB info page:

Julia got her start as a columnist at Georgetown University, writing the first ever dating column in the student newspaper. Her senior year, she signed a development deal with former David Letterman producer Robert Morton and Spelling Television to create a TV show based upon her columns.

Whatever happened to that? So did she actually squander two tv opportunities? Why would she mention a failed project on her fan page?

    ReplyDelete
  172. She is not a likable person, I mean just look at the most recent TMI video. Absolutely cringe worthy. I actually started to pity her, her bloated looks, her disingenuous persona, the lack of personality and depth, just an empty sad one trick pony.

    ReplyDelete
  173. If you type in 'Julia Allison' at http://www.allfacebook.com/, you'll see a chart of JA 'fans'. The numbers jumped from 470 on 3/25 to 17,236 on 4/22.

I think this stunt is going to backfire on Jankles BIG TIME.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Yup. 1st Randi chose her to be in the Newsletter (or whatever) as a suggested "add." She jumped like 12,000 fans within a week. She teetered out around 14,000 and jumped OVERNIGHT from 14,000-17,000 something. This happened the day after she visit the Facebook offices.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Karp got burned with the censorship scandal and I have a feeling Randi is going to regret these under-handed shenanigans as well. JA is truly media kryptonite.
