One of the Jacys, me, the one typing, was once involved in an e-mail group of like-minded people who were astonished by JA's antics. We have since become friends, sharing personal and professional information as friends do and arranging to get together in real life. And so it has been a simple process of elimination to determine who's been repeatedly harassing us with personal information. It's either someone who was once part of that group or someone who is a psychic.
As for Baugher: Baugher and I are in touch on a fairly regular basis, sharing war stories about some of the very same people who have subjected us to abuse and threats. We are huge Baugher fans here, and she returns the compliment. So that little bit of information is, in fact, totally untrue.

RBNS does not trade-in on its site hits or notoriety to accept swag in return for tween screes with x's and o's and multiple exclamation points!!!!!
RBNS, in other words, is not NS and there is no basis for comparison between the two. So why would RBNS suddenly start going all "Julia" and reply to known "haters". Sure it's one of JABAs favorite pasttimes (it makes her smile) but why should it be Jacy's?

This blog has thrived mainly because of its lively commentators. Even if you approve the majority of comments, just the threat of deletion or censorship is enough to really stunt the conversation. What's the standard for what gets deleted? Or is it just completely arbitrary?
It's midweek before a long weekend, folks. I say we need a pitcher of margaritas, a roof, and an ac/dc cd. It'll be the perfect Hug A Commenter party.

ReplyDelete@Anon 2:29 - I understand why blatant spamming and commentor "outing" shouldn't be allowed. But I think there's a real issue with banning "attacks" on other commentors. What constitutes an attack? Surely we should be allowed to disagree with one another. Surely disagreements will occasionally escalate and people will probably be rude and mean to one another. This is unfortunate and unpleasant, but do we want to start policing it? It's a very subjective endeavor, and a very fine line between deleting "attacks" and simply deleting whatever the moderators dislike.

Ya know, I have my own opinions on anonymous commenting in general but on a site like this it makes sense. When I first started reblogging these bitches I too was only under the handle Scary Mary. Why? I didn't want to taint the good name of my other ventures. A lot of these commenters have jobs and other such important things in their lives that might keep them from wanting this type of thing to show up under a search of their name. Anyone who is SO dysfunctional that they need to "out" RBNS commenters is truly the same breed as Julia Allison herself. It's sickening.

Ironic Slanket - I'm absolutely in agreement that outing people is not okay. My point was that there is no objective line about what constitutes "psycho stuff".
ReplyDeleteMy worry was that potentially valuable contributions to this discussion might be arbitrarily deleted because they rub the mods the wrong way. If some of the anons that are complaining about particular deletions in previous threads are to be believed, things may have been deleted around here that really should not have. In a forum like this one, deleting comments is a very big deal. It's not the kind of thing that should be taken lightly or done frivolously.

I personally am not thrilled that the comments here will be moderated. Maybe the bad stuff is getting deleted before I encounter it, but considering the nature of this site and its visitors, the trolls are actually few and far between. The many manifestations of trolls are probably just one or two people total.
While Jacy & Co are incredibly funny, I'm here for the other commenters as much as I am for the blog posts. This is the only place we can bitch about Julia, after all. Even Gawker commenters don't really care to discuss her anymore.
