Julia: Refusing to Sleep And Being A Fuck-Up Is So Adorable!

Tweet 1: Eeeek, it's 3 am. Car is coming to pick me up for the airport at 6 am. And I haven't packed yet. Oops?

Tweet 2: It's now 5:32 am. And I have STILL not packed. uhh ... is it time to panic?

Tweet 3: I have to get to the airport in exactly 17 minutes. Ummm. Crap?

It's tough to get your ass in gear like a normal adult human being when you're online all night e-mailing people (a Tweet from Patrol Magazine's David Sessions, soon deleted: davidsess: @juliaallison is cute and and pretty and I love getting random emails from her at 4:30 a.m.), posting photographs to your blog and frantically trying to think of ways to undo the damage from your latest PR disaster, people! Oh no! How to spin it now that the world knows you are desperate enough to shill for Sea World?

50 comments:

  1. Her last PR person basically stated, paraphrased:

Julia do us all Pr professionals a favor and just STFU unitl you can follow our rules and directions

  2. Julia's constant procrastination is just a manifestation of her subconscious knowledge that her life is purposeless and unfulfilled -- hence her need to create artificial drama like *GASP* waiting for the very last minute to pack... every. single. time.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Don't forget her crippling performance anxiety. That's why she's always late, afraid of sex, overly defensive.

I have this on Good Authority.

Ok, I just made it all up.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Indeed Dahling. It makes her look like an idiot. "Teehee, I'm supposed to be packing for this trip I've finally acknowledged I'm being paid for - instead I'll twitter a countdown about how I haven't done it yet!!" like, are you stupid? Not to mention um, not that hard to pack for a trip to Florida/Sea World even with 17 minutes to go (betting that was a calculated exaggeration or better yet, that she was already mostly packed). Yeah, kids theme park. SO MUCH DRAMA. She's lame.

  5. Considering the complete lack of content from much more interesting events like Davos and CES, what the hell is she going to produce for a friggin' opening of a rollercoaster at SeaWorld? I know she's paid to produce this time but realistically what does Izea expect? An extra photo of 'the pose'?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Also, her only readers are people who want to watch the Trainwreck that IS Julia Allison. Her pageviews have plummeted by like 15% in the past few months etc. So who is Izea expecting to reach? Even if she had readers, is this her target audience?

    SO STRANGE!

    ReplyDelete
  7. The target audience for articles about a rollercoaster at Sea World would be families with youngish kids who are planning on going on holiday.

Somehow I think the overlap between that and JA's readership is close to 0.

    ReplyDelete
  8. So is this Izea company just dim? I don't understand, in all seriousness, why they wouldn't target mommy and daddy blogs exclusively.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Is there a piano bar at Seaworld?

    ReplyDelete
  10. So can we all safely assume that Julia Allison has slept for a total of about 10 hours since last Sunday? COKE BENDER

    ReplyDelete
  11. Julia Allison is suck a fucktard. I read that IM exchange with Gawker and she totally skirts the issue and misses the point. It does not matter that she would give positive or negative coverage even if she was being paid, it's that SHE IS BEING PAID and doesn't disclose it. How damn hard is it to put a "thanks Izea" at the end of a post and just admit that you blog for dollars? Oh... because she's a journalist and doesn't want to admit that she has basically resorted to the lowest form of "writing." OK, I answered my own question. But she is still a fucktard.

  12. "Like anything I’m paid for, I don’t promise anything other than to show up."

I think I will tell that to my boss today and see what he says.

    ReplyDelete
  13. It's funny, whenever I think that it can't possibly get any more pathetic, she manages to take pathetic to yet another level. But this has to be as pathetic as it can get, right? Right??

    ReplyDelete
  14. That would explain why she's no longer being paid for anything particularly legitimate. Sad :(

    ReplyDelete
  15. Julia went back and amended her Sea World post (conveniently posted 15 minutes after Gawker called her out) to include a link to the Izea ethics policy. This portion of it stands out:

"Bloggers that do not disclose are not permitted to participate in any IZEA sponsored conversation and will be removed from our network."

She is so slimy and dishonest. Amending posts, back dating and changing your tune after you've been mentioning Sea World for months doesn't mean you haven't violated their ethics policy Julia!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yeah and Garthner (IT technology consulting firm) promise to be totally objective even though their entire study was paid for by Microsoft.

    ReplyDelete
  17. This is kind of a big moment for her, isn't it? I've been brainstorming ideas in my mind about how a twenty-something "dating blogger" could make an event at sea world seem interesting and reach an undertargeted audience. It could be done, but her deal with Izea might definitely shit the bed if all she does is post pictures of herself. And that might be it for her and NS -- that itself probably kept her up all night.

I had the same thought as someone in the last thread who suggested her response to Gawker -- "They're paying me only to show up! I'll tell you if it sucks!!!" -- is jeopardizing her contract almost as much as nondisclosure. She is not going to make any payola money if her editorial content doesn't improve. Her revamped NS page says to me that it's clear she is trying to branch out on her own and savor the last second of her fifteen minutes of notoriety. Meghan's page layout has not been updated.

  18. Journalist, soo funny. Just give it up, Julia. You no longer like to write. That's all it is. You thought you did, but you've realized you can't make a career out of it. Your agent is done getting you gigs at conferences because your promising enterprise has not delivered. Go enroll in a liberal studies graduate program at a tiny private college in Maine and maybe save yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  19. ^^ It's really fucking funny that her "big moment" is tied up in going to Sea World, blogging for dollars and associating herself with a whale. Funny how that works. For all of Julia's talk about karma, this is about as deliciously karmic as it gets.

    ReplyDelete
  20. JA is dating sea mammals now?

    ReplyDelete
  21. But enrolling in ANY college, just like her big ideas about going to business school, requires WORK. Julia Allison has already proven - with this lazy blogging for bucks gig - that she is blatantly opposed to working hard. She wants to post some pictures, videos and one sentence posts and get paid for it (yet not talk about how she wants to get paid for it). Despicable. She will be at home living with her parents by age 30. No job. No relationship. No one wants to prop up a lazy turd and no one will except for her family members that are obligated to.

Innneresting. One of Izea's clients is Gossip Girl.

  23. Not if they swim fast enough, 9.01.
Who hooked her up with Izea in the first place? Don't these people do research on the bloggers they take on? This is all so weird.

    Panty thief:
I personally would have preferred the Tijuana donkey show someone mentioned in an earlier thread as her watershed moment, but Seaworld!!!!! will do for me as well.

I hope she bought Carl Hiaasen's Native Tongue as her flight book to get into the right sea entertainment park mood. Sta clear of any dolphin named Dickie, Jules.

  24. stay - looks like the keyboard secretly went to see dr. bobby again

  25. I stopped visiting non-society after Mary left. Why bother giving her page views if I can not make any sense out of the content.
No matter how she tries to spin it - it is Sea World. Sea World. She will be among the "elite" bloggers who live in their parents basement in rural Indiana...you know exactly what I am talking about.

  26. Partypants, you mean all the excitement, tears and spoilers might have been her FAKING it for money? Shocking. Except not.

Please. With nothing better to do, she's been packed for this big trip for days. I wouldn't even be surpirsed if she was sleeping and did auto-tweets in the middle of the night making the whole thing up.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I love mary, I miss her so much.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Whoah. Just scanning the first page of Julia's twitter and you can see just how little she sleeps. It's disturbing and points to an illness much larger than insomnia. Like maybe a substance dependence issue. First she tweets that she has not slept since Sunday morning, then sleeps on what appears to be Monday night, then pulls another all nighter last night. Hope IZEA gets their money's worth from a blogger who has slept for one night this week! Hope she doesn't sleep through all of the ahhhmazing experiences she is being paid to have and blog positively about!

Julia Allison is going to crash and burn very hard, very soon, and it ain't gonna be pretty. At all.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Uh anon 9:24? It's not like Mary has gone anywhere. You can read her snoozeworthly blog over at More Than Mary.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Am I the only person on here not reading Snore than Mary? She's just as boring as Julia.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Man, does she milk this topic! She wrote on Gawker, at 7:20 p.m. last night:
"okay, I've responded enough to all this. Going to pack for SEA WORLD now. :)
    Have a wonderful day!
    xo"
So it took her more than 9 hours to pack?
Vom Julia Allison Baugher, you are a sham/liar/deceiver/misleader/fake and phoney.

To be fair, I don't think that Julia didn't disclose her Sea World adventure because she was being slimy and wanted to shill to her readers, I think she just wanted to make it seem like she is successful enough to pay for her own vacations.

Who knows, maybe in Julia's mind this IS a vacation and not a lame press junket. (I have been on those before and they can be horrid, having to stay with a group of people you don't like and being shuttled around and pitched to every minute of your trip, having to worry what your editor will think, etc.) It wouldn't surprise me. Having met her and known quite a few people that have met her, she thinks of business contacts as "friends" (until she has no use for you) and she thinks of lame media parties as high-class events. I don't know if she is simply dellusional or just too naive to realize that work does not = a social life–maybe it is a combo of the two.

So, anyways, just putting that out there: Julia probably didn't intend to be slimy and mislead her readers by blurring advertising and content, she probably was just trying to make herself seem imporant and *magical* by saying a press junket was a vacation. She is just stupid, don't give her too much credit.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Couldn't agree with you more GawkerEmployee. She really is stupid, as evidenced by her IM chat where she basically talked in circles and missed the point completely. The girl is just not that smart and lies and plays dumber to get out of any situation she gets flack for. It's one of her biggest downfalls and the reason she is such a failure. She is a complete child.

    ReplyDelete
  35. GE and Anon: Sure. Julia Allison Baugher loves to IMPLY this or that and let readers draw their own conclusions and then is quick to DEFLECT/DENY if she's called on inconsistency or deceptions or actual details. Her calculated and precisely obtuse language is a favorite ploy she uses again and again.
What is wack is that for a self-proclaimed lifecaster, her assertions like "I've been invited to SeaWorld!" are meant to inform the twitttervese about just how popular she is and what an exciting busy life she leads!!! She's SO in demand, with invitations flying in from all quarters. OMG! It is SO exhausting, bunnies, all the travelling and demands on her time!
She purposely cloaks the reality of what is really involved, i.e., she accepted a trip as part of a media junket with a bunch of other bloggers, and is also being paid by the sponsor company as a consultant (seems like a bit of a conflict of interest right there, no?, if I was SeaWorld I'd call a huge foul on that one).
What I really don't get is why she obsessively hides all the actual details, especially when they're a hell of a lot more interesting than her current nail polish color.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Pony, she hides the details because the expose her for what she really is: a blogging bottom feeder that engages in pay for play, basically the lowest and least authentic form of blogging. It doesn't jive with her message of being an in demand GAL ABOUT TOWN who blogs oh so honestly about her life. She is really a cheap shill and a desperate wannabe writer who can't write, so she has to go scrounging around for blog marketing scraps. "Being invited" is code word for "schlepped around to scrounge and scrape for scraps."

    ReplyDelete
  37. Respectfully disagree, CurrentGawkerEmployee. I think Julia Allison was being precisely slimy when she failed to disclose she was being paid to mention SEA WORLD!!!! (and very possibly Gossip Girl, the most riveting and moving TV show of our time). Sure, she wanted to make her life seem more important and *magical* Disney-Princessy than it is, I'll give you that; but she knew very well she was hornswoggling the readers she has left by omitting to disclose the circumstances. I think she is just smart and conniving and manipulative enough to do that. Stupid? Yeah, that, too, with regard to lots of important things, but slimy-smart in her own ineffable fashion.

    ReplyDelete
  38. This is another instance where I actually would have been impressed if she HAD been honest. "hey bunnies, times are tough for us all, including me. I have joined Izea for extra money. First assignment - a press junket at sea world! I'll be sure to let you in all the details of Media Manta day. Thanks to Izea for making this fun-sounding adventure possible!"

etc. Why not just do that? Hell, times ARE tough all over, why not be honest about it? Beyond loling at how she has fallen from media darling, who could truly hate her for trying to make an HONEST buck?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm also inclined to think that she knows exactly what she's doing when it comes to these things. She has a certain image in mind and will go to great length to protect that. Therefore she purposefully did not disclose any ties to IZEA until left with no other option than admitting there was something. Yet still she didn't come fully clean so that the CEO of that company felt compelled to intervene.
Her stupidity kicks in whenever she's called out and demonstrates her blatant inability to deal with it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. But CGE,

she didn't disclose her relationship with blueprint etc. until she was called out on it. She does this all the time. She doesn't want you to think she needs freebies or payment.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I bet she HATES :(:(:(:(:(:( Sea World.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Whomever CurrentGawkerEmployee is, is pretty lame. Julia has a record of lying about sponsorship beyond this once instance. I don't know why she should enjoy the benefit of the doubt from anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  43. More than not wanting people to think she accepts freebies and payment for coverage, I think Julia Baugher wants people to believe she is recommending things because she is your trusted "friend" on the web with a large audience of valuable readers/eyeballs. A while ago she posted some business book on her blog with notes she made in it. It was all about readers seeing you as a trusted friend and trusting your recs. Of course this was back when she thought her "brand" had value. Obviously it doesn't and now she has resorted to blogging for bucks, which is probably really embarrassing for her.

    ReplyDelete
  44. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH her tweet about how she is tweeting DURING take off ("this is an illegal tweet") is SO aggravating. It's like the rules just don't apply to her, AND she thinks it's cute. She is that annoying, entitled asshole on the plane who won't turn their phone off. Why am I surprised? I don't know. I want to reply to it on twitter but I don't want to stank up my page with her name. So since I know you're reading this Julia... YOU'RE A JERK!! And that shit's not cute. People roll their eyes and wonder what's wrong with someone when they see that type of behavior in public. Get a clue.

    ReplyDelete
  45. wait, 11:32, the ceo of izea intervened?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Anon 1132, Ted Murphy, the ceo of izea left a comment on the Gawker story this morning. He said he believed Julia "made an honest mistake" har dee har har. Expect her to get canned from this deal, too.

    ReplyDelete
  47. NomSociety: She's still that little girl who biked off to the Country Club and arranged for her own birthday party after her parents punished her by canceling it. (Or who did that in her own mythological head.) Nobody puts Julia Allison in the corner! Still acting out by tweeting during takeoff, and thinking it's adorbs.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Dys, it's almost like she thinks having an iPhone is special or enviable. Like people on the plane are gonna be like "omg that girl has an IPHONE!!!". Having an iPhone was a big deal for approximately 1 week in early July of 2007. I mean shit, it's just so juvenile! But once again..why am I surprised? I don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Figuring her out is like figuring out second term Ronnie Reagan- vacant idiot or crazy like a fox? And we all know how that turned out.

As far as what's her problem, Schematic therapist would say she has MAJOR Entitlement issues: http://www.schematherapy.com/

The below is from From http://www.enneagramspectrum.com/articles/malschema.htm
    ----
Cognitive therapists talk about adaptive and maladaptive schemas. If our schemas or paradigms are aligned with reality, i...they are useful. If they distort reality, if they assimilate reality to fit their preconceptions, they’re not so helpful... When the distortions become pathological, they show up as "typical misconceptions, distorted attitudes, invalid premises, and unrealistic goals and expectations"

Jeffrey Young (1999), a disciple of Beck’s, describes early maladaptive schemas as:

extremely stable and enduring themes that develop during childhood, are elaborated throughout an individual’s lifetime, and are dysfunctional to a significant degree. These schemas serve as templates for the processing of later experience ( p. 9).

    According to Young:

    1. Most early maladaptive schemas are unconditional beliefs and feelings about oneself in relation to the environment. Schemas are a priori truths that are implicit and taken for granted….When the schema is activated, individuals believe that they can, at best, delay or hide the inevitable bad outcome such as rejection or punishment.

    2. Early maladaptive schemas are self-perpetuating, and therefore much more resistant to change. Because schemas are developed early in life, they often form the core of an individual’s self-concept and conception of the environment.

    3. Early maladaptive schemas, by definition, must be dysfunctional in some significant and recurring manner.

    4. Early maladaptive schemas are usually activated by events in the environment relevant to the particular schema.

    5. Early maladaptive schemas are closely tied to high levels of affect. Early maladaptive schemas seem to be the result of the child’s innate temperament, interacting with dysfunctional experiences with parents, siblings, and peers during the first few years of life.

    ENTITLEMENT

The final ( schema) lifetrap, Entitlement, is associated with the ability to accept realistic limits in life. People who have this ( schema) lifetrap feel special. They insist that they be able to do, say, or have whatever they want immediately. They disregard what others consider reasonable, what is actually feasible, the time or patience usually required, and the cost to others. They have difficulty with self-discipline.

Many of the people with this lifetrap were spoiled as children. They were not required to show self-control or to accept the restrictions placed on other children. As adults, they still get very angry when they do not get what they want.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Um, she writes the same "only a few hours left and counting and haven't packed yet OMG!" tweet almost every time she has to pack. Er ... oops?
